Any thoughts? My take:
Judging from the spring game film, which obviously isn't everything, this seems like an area of concern. Lots of big plays over the middle / top. Remember that they were not playing against top tier receivers, were going against pretty vanilla offensive play calls, and had the benefit of the deep / talented front 7s in front of them getting to the QBs.
Avery clearly is a hitter, but even though he got the pick on the AB duck, he gave up two TDs over the middle out of press coverage (Hagan from AB which got called back, and the Kline pass). Logan pretty much did nothing - seems to be easily blocked in the run game, and looked goofy on the Hinder to Anderson TD. Hill was solid at free, and Ellison actually seemed to play the best of the group. That's not a good thing.
To be fair, the schemes seemed to be aggressive (lots of cover 1 and cover zero - so man coverage for the safeties), and its not always easy to tell which assignment belongs to whom - eg the blown coverage on the Maynard to Harris TD where both Ellison and the corner flew up for the underneath route.
BUT we need to find a safety who can cover to be able to play Clancy's aggressive schemes and not get torched, and its not clear who that is right now.
