Did anyone go to the US Open last week and was able to buy any extra New Era US Open hats? I had tickets to the final round yesterday but ALL the hats were sold out. Saw some really slick looking hats that I wanted to buy but nothing was left. I'm particularly looking for the one with navy blue front and lid. Has the winged o US Open logo and white mesh. If anyone has one for sale I'd be glad to buy it. Hopefully USGA releases more hats.

Not sure if any of these are the New Era caps but do any of these at the USGA shop fit the bill?

Unfortunately not. I scanned the USGA online shop as well but they don't have many of the hats that were being sold at the Olympic Club. The nice hats were all fitted.

well, order this one

and personalize it to say "I saw Tiger Fail!". Or "We booed him in 09". Could be the greatest gift a Bear fan can have.

I got mine in tan on Saturday, but sorry, no extras. I liked the hats and was surprised to find out they were sold out by Sunday. They seemed to have an unlimited supply on Saturday.

I am an O-Club member and was a marshal and was there today for the 50% off sale (sweet)...they had everything but hats. Those sold out very early. Try online at usga.com, I'm sure they will have some. The management said sales were FAR above expectations. It was the biggest showroom I have ever seen, they must have made a killing.

I couldn't believe how crazy it was in that merchandise tent. If I had known everything would sell out, I would have gone earlier in the week. Oh well...guess in the end it probably saved me hundreds of dollars that I probably would have spent.

You wouldn't have been surprised if you had seen the mob that descended on the merchandise tent after Tiger finished his round Saturday evening. I was working in the tent at the time. It was a madhouse.

If you're going to the Open anytime soon, you may want to print this out. These are my rules for U.S. Open viewing/attendance, based on having gone to seven Opens, including five of the last six:

1. If you're going to shop, shop early. No matter how much stuff they bring in, the merchandise tent starts running out of items by Thursday night, including clothing in popular sizes, and the most popular tschotschkeys.

2. On Saturday and Sunday, there is an inverse relationship between how close you are to the clubhouse and how much golf you see. People tend not to want to walk out to the farthest reaches, especially if their trophy wife/GF is with them, and she's wearing high heels. Ergo, holes far from the clubhouse tend to be relatively uncrowded, even on Sunday, and you can get good views. This was especially true at Olympic Club, because it's built on a hillside.

3. Never follow Tiger. If you follow him, you see a lot of the backs of your fellow spectators, and very few golf shots. If you want to see him play, get ahead of him by at least two holes, and let him come to you. Amazingly, it was possible to follow Furyk and McDowell for most of their round, because the bulk of the gallery was still watching Tiger shoot 73.

4. If you have the time, volunteering is the best way to go to the Open. In return for working 4 four-hour shifts, and paying $150, I got some nice Ralph Lauren golf clothes, and a ticket for all days of the tournament. I also had access to a flush toilet, and other perks.

Quickly figured out rule 2 and 3. Spent most of my time on hole 6 where I could see the drive, approach shot and putting out from the middle of the fairway. One of the most impressive drives I saw was Colsaerts blast one 375 down the middle of the fairway. Also got to see Tiger hit it wide left and watch his approach shot come short of the green and roll backwards down the hill! Also spent a lot of time on the par 3 hole 13 where I had great views of the last 5 pairings.

Saw Tiger tee off and watched him on hole 3. That was enough for me since like you said, I wanted to see some real golf shots.

We had a great time at the open. Spent all day Saturday walking among about 7 or 8 different holes. Then we spent Sunday morning sitting in the grandstand at hole 5, then moved to the grandstand on 17 after lunch. Got a great view of KJ Choi holing a 45 foot putt, Lee Westwood coming within inches of an albatross, and watching Furyk choke away the championship when he needed a birdie.
