nervous because the lead recruiter left
nervous because with the new facilities and stadium, everyone expected huge classes to follow,

Cumon, man, stop feeding this BS. I don't know who "everybody" is who expected an incomplete stadium to vault us to the top of the Pac in recruiting, but the people who understand football know that was never the case. This was about first, a NECESSARY upgrade of the stadium and second, competitive facilities. Mission (almost) accomplished. Look at Oregon and others - facilities help, but they didn't send them to a whole new level, and they won't all by themselves.

We got three very good classes that were higher than what came before, and the facilities played a huge role. So with this season's recruiting going about the same as last season, how can anyone say facilities aren't having a positive impact? If you thought facilities would make us USC, time for a reality check.

nervous because the last few season have been mediocre

There ya go! Results on the field. That's legitimate. And also well-known by everyone who isn't living in a cave in New Mexico. I can't say "things will get better," they might not, but JT is here, so what's gained by complaining about the past?

That Udub had a big weekend is newsworthy. UCLA often had these big early weekends in which lots of recruits verballed, some of whom stuck. And it would be discussed here, but not with such gusto.

Okay, but so what? If it's a matter of timing, who cares?

But its still way too early to repeatedly panic guys. If the team isn't winning and recruiting doesn't pick-up, then worry.... This year, more than other years under the Tedford regime, the team's performance will impact the recruiting year.

I'm not sure this season's performance is any more or less critical for recruiting. It matters every year and every year it's not everything. Most recruits couldn't care less about our coaching drama, even though it feels like everything to us fans. Yah, To$h is a very good recruiter, but people need to get over it and move on.

There are very good reasons to think this season could be a big deal as far as JT's future, especially in light of the abysmal APR numbers. But he's the coach - so let him lose sleep over the possibility of losing his job. I want to see this team win, I want to see this team in the Rose Bowl, I'm just not seeing how anything that's going on leads to "the end of the world." The end of JT's job, sure. (Personally I wouldn't mind seeing new FB and MBB coaches, but I'm not going to hate on Sandy because she won't do what I want.)

Thanks Finger those are it, wow, real nice. Looks like you can even be comfortable on cement walls with those lovely jumpers.

Little unusual. You might think he is trying to make the "W" sign with his fingers, -maybe he thought nobody would see the truck-sized one plastered all over his chest. .. Maybe he was just trying to waive but his backside was too sore (or maybe he was too hot in there) from that concrete lay so it came out knarled-up. Maybe somebody was honking at his outfit, that startled him so that screwed up his waive. Maybe I have too much time on my hands.. but sure hope to see a few of those suits walking around CMS soon, need a few laughs.

Including a former Texas commit.

The question you have to ask is whether Tosh and Sark are stashing the money for the players on the boat. I don't think you can prosecute someone if they're doing it in international waters.

They signed nobody and cannot for 6 months.

This thread is ridiculous. People are acting shocked that UW ended up with some good recruits. As you guys already know, Tosh is an excellent recruiter. Many of these kids commit to coaches, not schools. I thought it was kind of comical last year when Tosh was pulling in big time recruits, everyone on here was like "see these kids are smart, great students. They are coming for the academics & the beauty of our campus!!!!" That's not how recruiting works and it's funny to see posters on dawgman make similar claims "OMG - we are a national program again!! They saw the crystal ball. We're back!!!!"

Yes, it's nice to have solid recruiting classes, but ultimately coaching is what's important. You look at what programs like Utah, Boise State, TCU and Kansas State have done without elite talent. Meanwhile, you have schools that continue to reel in top 10 recruiting classes (Texas, Georgia, Florida State), yet they have underachieved recently, despite having some of the most talented players in the country.

Finger, I'm no fan of the bow wow wow but interestingly enough he's made a few rational level headed posts. I hate UW and I passionately want Cal to kill them in every sport and in every academic measure but I refuse to cross a certain line. No offense. I generally really like your humor but that picture really crossed that line - by a mile. Go Bears!

Howard has his work cut out for him going up against Trash in recruiting. Qualls was the ringleader of this recruiting event and he is in our backyard. If we land Vanderdoes and Tyree Robinson than Qualls and Daniels loss will be moot. If not than the assistant coaches have a lot of splainin' to do with regards to recruiting.

If you have to try that hard to convince others (who aren't drinking the kool aid) how awesome you are, perhaps you're not that awesome.

UW is a nice school in a nice area. I can see why kids would want to go there.

With that said, I think there are better options in Cali. The bay area just as if not more beautiful. SoCal has perfect weather (although, having grown up there, I appreciate norcal weather more).

There are lots of hot girls in LA. It's a great party town.

UW and UCLA have shaken up a lot of their staff. That instability could be a good or bad thing.

I think Tosh's pull is overrated. A recruiter is still just a recruiter IMHO. Kids should do the smart thing and commit to the school and the program.

There's no point in looking back. That will only hurt you. You should always look forward.

I'm less worried about next year's recruits and more worried about this year's performance. A strong season will do us good and hand-wringing accomplishes nothing.

Goddamn. Is that kind of posting allowed here?

I had a post moderated once because I posted an image with objectionable language. I would think that something like this could be moderated too.

I reported the post this morning. I initially called out Finger for it and he removed it but the next post still has the pic up from the "quote" ...not sure why it is still up after I reported it several hours ago...either the mods aren't checking the "report abuse" messages or they don't find it offensive...I don't know which.
