This article from the Chronicle of Higher Education is based off of a paper written by a Berkeley assistant professor.

Quote:

In a working paper published by the National Bureau of Economic Research, Michael L. Anderson, an assistant professor at the University of California at Berkeley, found “robust evidence” that a winning FBS program translated into increased contributions and improvements in the student population.

Nothing mind blowing here but I guess the prof has some hard data to back it up.

I agree. Whenever I had an exam the week after a Cal win, I always did better than whenever Cal lost. I dont know why...

Well a tough loss always makes it harder for me to think about anything else. I didn't do anything of significance after the '07 Oregon State loss (sorry for bringing it up, guys) for a few days.

I don't remember my performance as a student during football season but as a working adult, my work performance suffers the week after big wins due to reliving the past game and extended web surfing during work hours.
