Or any "high quality" HDMI cable which will "maximize" the picture quality of that high priced big screen TV investment that you made? Just curious. "Yes or no" will suffice.

Just got a new LCD/LED from Best Buy. Their top end 6 foot HDMI cable is over $700. I felt very smart for avoiding that. It did however suck me into buying a $200 one (what a bargain) which subsequently made me feel stupid.

No, I would buy a $10 cable from Frys

Or a $3.50 version from Monoprice.com.

Monoprice is the way to go. HDMI cables are digital, so they only send 1's and 0's. Expensive cables won't send better 1's and 0's.

Better quality cabling would make sense for analog signals.

The cheapest cables work as good as the most expensive, according to tests that have been done.

Monster has come up with a way to separate you from your money!

No, no, and no. Buy one on eBay for $1.50.

I agree. Amazon has saved me time and again for these kinds of things.

There is basically no difference between HDMI cables unless you are running wires over long distances (so if your TV sits right next to your DVD player/cable box, then it doesn't matter).

Yes. The monster HDMI cables have a special kind of connector and are made out of space aged materials that allows for the best possible digital quality.

Scam. There was a class action lawsuit filed against Monster (and Best Buy?) a few years ago about false advertising.

There is no gain from "High Quality" digital cables.

The signal is sent, or it is not. There is not the interference issues like you get with analogue.

So, no. I bought all my my HDMI cables for about $10 total (5 of them). My 60" TV, otoh, I paid a lot for a good picture.

I waited for a better deal, and then bought 5.

...he is quite correct. Imagine someone telling you that you need a $300 Ethernet cable to improve your download speeds or the quality of your screen images, or better Flash movies...bits and bytes as we used to say.

$200!?

And places like Best Buy wonder why they are losing money like crazy...

Sell a $200 cable, and lose a lifetime of business.

A better model for electronics stores would be to be a consumer advocate; I would shop at Best Buy if I trusted them to ever be honest. It would save me a LOT of time, and I would pay for that.

Instead I KNOW that they will try to rip me off, lie to make one sale, and charge me more if I can figure out the info on my own.

No, no, no!!!! Your cables should cost more than your televison!

I was visiting my parents in LA in April, and my dad's iMac wasn't working and needed a Firewire cable to get it going again.

So I went to Best Buy, and the Firewire cable cost $50.

So I went on eBay, and found the Firewire cable I needed for $2.

Since I limited the search to people selling Firewire cables in SoCal, I was able to get it in 2 days.

And the Firewire cable was essentially the same as the one as Best Buy.

I don't think you can lump Monster cables into the same category as Apple products. Also, if you don't buy Apple products, how do you know it's overpriced junk? Have you been brainwashed by android and microsoft fanboys?

What I dont understand is that the description of the second item is...

"Diamond HDMI Digital Audio/Video Cable W/ Ethernet Connection (5M)"

Sounds good to me.

monoprice, bluejeanscable, etc etc

Nice to see pretty much nobody here buying the hype. Sadly, a lot of people are not as in the loop and simply assume that if the cables cost that much, there is a valid reason why .

I work at best buy (for 3 more weeks at least, downsizing) and I'll just say after buying into the hype when I started, you guys have the right idea.
I go amazon for all accessories and frankly I'm glad I'm getting out with a little severance package because they are banking the future on cell phones and tablets and connections (cable subscriptions etc) and I doubt that will work.
MrGPAC

The only possible difference between the cables is the connectors. Sometimes cheaper cables will have poorly soldered connections that will wear out/break over time. Since its digital, when they do go, they are gone completely.

That said I go as cheap as possible. I'd rather spend 2.50 twice than 30 bucks once.

Don't forget lawyer fees, they like going after anyone else using the Monster name.
