How long do you want to ignore this user?
Hi Bear fans,

I posted a thread on a site talking about my younger son Jordan. You might want to check it out. It's years later and I still find it weird that Tedford didn't even consider Aaron's younger brother Jordan. Aaron just saw Tedford on the 4th wonder if they talked about that. The best of luck this season.

I dont know much about the Bears' recruiting priorities and do not presume to give the coaching staff advice. Sorry, but the readers of this board may not be able to help you with the question of why Jordan did not get a call.

While you are here,
- It is good to have you posting on the board.
- We enjoyed watching Aaron play for Cal.
- We also enjoy his continued sucess
- You know that the other Dad's are envious. It is amazing to have two sons play QB at the D1 level. That whole best QB in the NFL may also trump the honor-student bumper sticker.

Go Bears
Go Vandy
Go Pack

Maybe Tedford thought what are the chances of lightning striking twice on the same family tree? Of course, there are the Manning bros.

Jordan has a great opportunity at Vandy - loved watching him slice up defenses last year and looking forward to him have a big year start to finish in 2012. There are a lot of fans on this board that would have loved to have seen him play for Cal but I suppose Tedford was a bit myopic on this one. Maybe being passed over by Tedford will provide the same type of motivation that helped propel Aaron to the top.

I echo the other comments that it would be great to have you stick around here - you must know as much about the QB position as anyone else on here and it's always great to have knowledgeable guys on here talking football. Plus - the only time you'll hear Aaron criticized is when people talk about what could have been in 2005 had he stuck around!

I specifically heard from Tedford himself that he didnt recruit your son because Jordan held the ball too high near his ear--like the ball was on a shelf.

Hey Ed,

Thanks for the good wishes. A lot of us were wondering why Jordan didn't seem to get a look - would have been great to have two brothers QB at Cal. If you get a chance, get down to the remodeled Memorial to see a game or two - you'll be amazed.

Best to your family.

Wonder how different our program would be if Jordan were here. The evaluation on Beau Sweeney was terrible--kid couldn't even break the depth chart at Cornell. Sweeney and Cary Dove (who I saw a lot in practice) are the 2 worst Tedford QBs I've seen.

Hey Doc:

Maybe because cronyism is out w/ Tedford.
At least I hope so.

PERSONAL: Full name is Beau Kevin Sweeney ... born February 15, 1990 ... parents are Kevin and Karen Sweeney ... his father was a record-setting quarterback at Fresno State and played for two seasons with Dallas in the NFL after being selected by the Cowboys in the seventh round of the 1987 NFL Draft ... grandfather, Jim Sweeney, was a longtime head football coach at Montana State (1963-67), Washington State (1968-75) and Fresno State (1976-77, 1980-96) ... major during his time at Cal was American studies.

He sold out to Sweeney clan... came back to bite him big time and may cost him his job if Maynard has another year like last. Good luck to you and your family.

You all are not seriously believing this is Aaron Rodgers father...and sir, if this is you, you're son was obviously raised by his mother and not you dude. To whine like this about Jordan doesn't sound like the wisdom that your son exhibited waiting behind the egomaniac BF for years. You should call up Aaron and get some tips about how to express yourself publicly. Oh that's right this is the semi-public one-way shooting gallery called the internet.

Maybe Tedford didn't go for Jordan, because of some kid named Kline?

Yeah I don't get why Aaron Rodgers' dad would have a username of 04Bear when Aaron's last season at Cal was 2004.

Different recruiting years -- Jordan Rodgers was 2007 (HS) and 2008-2009 (two years in JC), while Kline is Class of 2012.

Despite his QB Guru reputation, I really can't see Tedford scouting Kline in 8th Grade way back in 2008.

EDIT: It seems that Tedford went for one QB each in the years Jordan Rodgers was (allegedly) ignored -- Brock Mansion in 2007, Beau Sweeney in 2008 and Allan Bridgford in 2009.

'slicing up defenses'?!? LMAO. What part of 9 td's and 10 int's is 'slicing'? Dude was benched in the bowl game he was so terrible for gods sakes not to mention his awful 3 int game that lead to vandy's horrible loss to a very much so garbage Vol program

Not a tedford guy but passing on this kid was not a mistake

Unfortunately, those are the only two games I saw of Jordan Rodgers after some posters (LafayetteBear?) were raving about him and I made it a priority to check him out on the telly.

I don't want to get into the "Tedford ignored Aaron Rodgers' kid brother despite the obvious connections" controversy, but he definitely has potential from what little I've seen of him. Pretty good arm and will try to extend plays with his movement. Essentially he's a gunslinger (a QB who takes chances for either good and bad results, but with great intentions).

IMO if he had 9 TDs and 10 INTs here at Cal, I think he gets a "pass" from the very same posters who rip apart Maynard (another gunslinger type) because of the Bro-connection to Aaron. Conversely, Maynard's relation to KA is used against him at times. JMO

Against Ark, Florida and Kentucky (which is when I saw him play) - he completed 60% of his passes for 744 yards (9.7 ypa), with 5 TDs against 1 INT, 3 rushing TDs and a PER of over 160. He came very close to upsetting both Arkansas and Florida. I guess you must have seen different games - oh wait, you never saw him play did you? Maybe before you LYAO you should watch some football.

Under related subject matter, if Drew Brees got a $100 million contract for five years, $60 million guaranteed, what will our boy Aaron get from the Pack?
He is thought of as highly as Brees and perhaps more so. I've heard players on the radio compliment Rodgers as the best QB in the NFL. That's saying something when you consider the Mannings and Brady and Brees.

Perhaps?!?!?!?!

Aaron is 5 years (actually 4 years, 11 months) younger than Brees, and he has just as many Super Bowl wins, just as many Super Bowl MVP awards and -- unlike Brees -- has 1 NFL MVP to his name.
