I sure as hell hope so. I just moved and I'm holding out in cable/tv limbo.

Striving and doing are not the same thing.

They're going to hold out until the 11th hour.

For those willing to take the risk; I have a direct tv contract that lasts till April 2013. I threatened to terminate the contract early and pay the $20 per month early termination fee. After some negotiation, I agreed to extend my contract an additional three months with them; in return they gave me discounted HBO/Cinemax till end of contract, free sports pack, free nfl ticket and free espn gameplan. I decided to take the risk that direct tv will eventually sort out this crap with the pac-12 network. if not, at least i can watch every other football game.

I can see why you would make that deal as a Directv subscriber, but I think I will wait until I know for sure which carriers will have the Pac12 Network before I decide.

those on DIRECTV, but today I decided to switch to Oceanic Time-Warner here in Hawaii that will be carrying all the Pac-12 network channels starting on August 15th. I got tired of waiting for the outcome of negotiations between the Pac-12 and DISH. It was time for me to move on!

Wilner had an update recently:

Quote:

I spoke to numerous league/school officials during the day, and all they seemed cautiously optimistic about a deal with DirecTV — more optimistic than anyone has been in months.

(Many of those same officials have been, and remain, skeptical about a carriage agreement with Dish Network.)

Thanks for the link, maxer. The skepticism about reaching an agreement with DISH seems to justify my action taken today.

I sure hope Wilner is right. I had to abort my attempt to switch to Comcast because it simply didn't work. Got everything all set up and all I could get was KICU on channel 2. Called tech support and they said "yeah, I can see from here there's something wrong with your box, but I can't fix it from here. I'll send a guy in 3-4 days." I told them not to bother and cancelled instead. I am simply blown away by the fact that they just recycle the old DVRs and send them out again with apparently no QC whatsoever. It was a good refresher on just how much better DTV is no matter how bad and expensive they get. Dreading having to try again with Comcast in a few weeks...come on DTV sign up already!

When I moved to Oregon on July 1st. I had my Direct TV account changed. I asked about the PAC12 Network for football games. I was told that I would have to buy their Game Plan @ $119.00 in order to get the PAC12 Network games. I was not told they were negotitating with them. I was told they would not have extra channels like the BIG10 Network. If they add the PAC12 Network that would be great, however that's not what I was told.

Directv has the best sports channel selection of any carrier(I am also an ex comcast employee) they will have the pac12 network.
DISH on the other hand..
And if you think it will be less expensive on Comcast I have a bridge to sell you

That is 100% wrong. Do not trust the customer service people with anything, they don't know what they're talking about.

- Game Plan is an ESPN product. It has nothing to do with the Pac-12 Network whatsoever
- If you get the Sports Pack, you will get the Big10 Network (and probably the Pac-12 Network if they make a deal, which looks likely).

The Sports Tier is only like $8/month.
