Wow, I forgot about this guy. Watching the Big Game replay tonight reminded me about this guy. A 6'6 beast who could run and catch , his NFL career was brief, 4 years, but as a college athlete he was impressive! I think Richard Rodgers has his tool set as a player. Hope all our tight ends play big this year, what a weapon when they do.

I was just thinking the same thing. That guy is a stud.

I was going to post this very same thing! Lewis was an absolute matchup nightmare. If Richard Rodgers is anything like Lewis we will be in great shape!

Hard to believe but the previous year he was one of our best players but our coach adopted an offensive scheme (Mouse Davis' "Run & Shoot") that didn't utilize his position causing him to become a reserve.

I remember it well--a student at the time, I liked the idea of the "Run and Shoot" but figured that any coach that could not adapt his system to utilize a great player like Lewis was doomed.

Similarly, I thought June Jones really missed the boat by letting all of Hawaii's great tight end talent leave the islands in favor of trying to recruit fast receivers from the mainland. One thing that Norm Chow has corrected.
