Since we're all negotiating with our providers for TV channels at the moment, I was hoping that someone knowledgeable on the subject could tell us some key information.

That is, what channels do we REALLY need to watch all the Cal games this year? With the new P12 "deal", what are we going to be asking providers to carry? I know per calbears.com that obviously the P12 Network is essential, and to get the tOSU game we will need ESPN Game Plan (at least for that week). But, what about the rest of the schedule?

Will we continue to need Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area?

What about all of the regional Fox Sportsnet channels?

What about Versus?

Who has enough "inside" information that could tell us what we really need to be subscribing to with our TV providers?

The OSU game is nationally on ABC, so don't get GamePlan unless you're in some strange place that doesn't get ABC.

All Pac-12 games are covered by the contracts with ESPN, Fox, and Pac-12 Networks. The only exceptions are road games out of conference, which are covered by the home team's conference TV deals.

This will include:
Fox (main broadcast network)
FX
ESPN
ESPN2
ESPNU
ABC
P12N

Versus is now NBCSN and no.

Thanks. This really helps a LOT! However your comment about the tOSU game is interesting. The only "national" ABC game tends to be the Sat night game. If the Cal-tOSU game is on Sat night then you may be right. Otherwise, if it's in the afternoon, we will need Game Plan.

The only Cal game on ABC recently that I can remember being a truly a national broadcast game (not counting ESPN cable games) was the 2007 Tenn game where Brent talked about the tree-people using toilet paper and the "wizard of returns" - DJax. Others have all required us non-local folks to pay the Mouse his due....

It's full national at noon EDT according to the press releases put out by both Cal and Ohio State on the day the game time was announced.
