I just got an email from the OC Cal Alumni Association informing me that the Nevada viewing party is being cancelled on account of not being able to find a suitable location. Other weeks are at risk too pending resolution of the DTV/P12 issues. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure they're not the only groups that'll be throwing in the towel this week.

As an appeal to the True Blue in all of you, if you having a Slingbox or Vulkano or any other streaming device that you aren't using, please please please offer to stream the game to other viewing parties in areas where they'd be unable to watch the game. If you've got a video capture card and can throw up a feed onto a private justin.tv channel or something, that would be fantastic. I've already begged, borrowed, and stole a couple extra Slingboxes for this weekend; I've now got 3 that are daisy chained together to sling to 3 separate viewing parties across the country.

I know it sounds cheesy, but I'd like to think that when challenges and difficulties arise, the Cal community is close-knit enough to work together and give each other a hand. It should be one thing that differentiates us from those turds across the bay.

what was he thinking ???? nothng should have been changed until EVERYTHING WAS READY ....

one more thought ... i knew this was not going to work and now i see it clear as day .. oh well as of now ill miss first two games grrr ... i guess everyone smdh will get to see the ohio st game .

why didnt the pac 12 offer there own streaming service seems that would have been best place to start ( why o why was this not done seems to me it would have been way more profitable no? is it too late for the network to offer pac 12 streaming on a tier system or something similar) ... im just thinking out loud

everyone should have been able go on online and watch the games for 20- 30 a month i think the pac 12 could have cut out the middle man ... larry scott is playing bitch and i think its too late to catch up ... games will be missed bunko ... this should not have been so complicated .. i would think those in charge , making a plie of money didnt make the correct decisions ...

You blame the guy who got the network created in the first place providing Pac-12 schools with millions of dollars in revenue?

If the Pac-12 offered this, they wouldn't have gotten a deal with the Cable companies, because then you are undercutting their business. I'm not sure why this, and so many other questions, are so difficult to understand.

The greater the available bandwidth, the better the picture quality is what I have found with my Slingbox (HD Pro). I would test the three all at once to see if the picture(s) are watchable.

I tested it and the video quality is so-so; I can have 2 running in HD at the same time, but with the 3rd one the quality on all 3 starts to drop a bit. Not as bad as SD, but definitely not HD. Luckily the "auto" setting works pretty well at balancing the load from all 3 boxes.

You're right, your post is a huge FAIL in a thread where someone is asking for support in slingboxing feeds to viewing parties of Cal fans without access.

Sadly, I can't help out in this regard, but your little rant is misplaced. We already have several other threads where you can petulantly vent your spleen.

Another option is to stream the game from PAC-12.com. You'll need a laptop, high speed Internet and a valid cable account. The quality is HD-ish. Also you'll have to connect the laptop to whatever video source you're outputting.

For example, Dish Network dropped AMC just before Breaking Bad premiered, with the CEO of Dish saying that you can watch Breaking Bad on iTunes, so they have no reason to have AMC.

So, question. Is the game available only online? And not on cable? Just curious, as I usually go to a sports bar here in SD to catch games.

Cox, TWC, and Comcast/Xfinity in CA carry the P12 network.

It looks like it's down to the wire on if we are going to be able to pressure Comcast to let us get the channel. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be appreciated. Also, if you can contact Comcast and help us out here would highly appreciate it.

Also, although the facebook group isn't large yet, it has multiple comcast and directtv numbers and the larger it gets the harder it will be for them to ignore.

Email:
----
Hello,
This email is not meant to alarm folks, but there is a chance that the Cal game may not be available to us this weekend. For us to get the game, your help is urgently requested by the Pac-12 Network. While I think the Network should have been better prepared for this possibility, I am happy they are at least giving us a chance to help bring Cal football telecasts here.

They have asked us to get as many alums as possible to contact Comcast, asking about the Network. The more calls, the better. Also, if you have any ideas on how to build up support for the network with Comcast, or need more info before you make contact, let me know.

See below - this is from my contact with the Pac-12 Network (a former New York Cal club President):

We're working with Comcast to bring you Pac-12 Network in the very near future. I'm pulling emails coming out of DC and Chicago asking for the networks for negotiation meetings (500 from both your cities since launch). An Oregon alum out in DC has started a Facebook campaign: "Demand Pac-12 Network Access Now". He said they are also buying ad space this weekend to drum up awareness.

At this point we really need alums to call Comcast to show consumer demand. That is the most effective measure right now for us, even though we can't measure the call volume on our end.

I'm not sure what you can do out in DC as far as contacts. Give me any ideas you have and I'll run it by the team here.

I will send out info tomorrow regarding progress on this, which will hopefully be positive.
But, in the meanwhile, please contact Comcast. Every call will help - you can make a difference here.

Thank you!

President
Cal Alumni Club of Washington DC

in the NVA/DC area. I will cross fingers and make some calls tomorrow......

We need to have a little pain to reap the designed rewards of the Pac-12 Net. - the established distributors are not happy about giving ground..........IMO.

Players has decided to install Time Warner in time for the game so the Alumni viewing in San Diego is on as originally scheduled. Evidently they were in an area served by Time Warner. Got to give a hand to Players for supporting the PAC 12 Sports fan when so many of their competitors are not. Only took a day from when I asked the SD Alumni if Players had something other than Direct TV for the PAC12 Network.

But until today Players only had Direct TV, to keep the SD Alumni viewing party they are adding Time Warner to get the PAC12network.

If I lived in SoCal, I would definitely make the trip down to SD (if not making the trip up to the Bay).

I remember back in the days when you couldn't see ANY Cal games in SoCal or the East Coast unless we were on one of the nationally televised games.

Apparently not. I logged in with my valid Time Warner Cable password, tried to watch streaming content, and got the error "Your TV Provider sign in was successful, but your TV package does not include access to this Pac-12 Networks content."

Busbys West in Santa Monica did the same thing,...got TWC so the LA Cal Alumni Assoc can still have viewing parties there. Can't wait to go tomorrow!

You should be grateful for the improved mental health provided by not seeing the games and send Larry Scott a note of thanks.
