We've all seen that DirectTV has dropped the ball. Comcast has likewise dropped the ball for the DC area and at least Chicago.

It looks like it's down to the wire on if we are going to be able to pressure Comcast to let us get the channel. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. If you can contact Comcast and help us out here would highly appreciate it.

The facebook group isn't large yet, it has multiple comcast and directtv numbers and the larger it gets the harder it will be for them to ignore.

Email from club president:

Hello,
This email is not meant to alarm folks, but there is a chance that the Cal game may not be available to us this weekend. For us to get the game, your help is urgently requested by the Pac-12 Network. While I think the Network should have been better prepared for this possibility, I am happy they are at least giving us a chance to help bring Cal football telecasts here.

They have asked us to get as many alums as possible to contact Comcast, asking about the Network. The more calls, the better. Also, if you have any ideas on how to build up support for the network with Comcast, or need more info before you make contact, let me know.

See below - this is from my contact with the Pac-12 Network (a former New York Cal club President):

We're working with Comcast to bring you Pac-12 Network in the very near future. I'm pulling emails coming out of DC and Chicago asking for the networks for negotiation meetings (500 from both your cities since launch). An Oregon alum out in DC has started a Facebook campaign: "Demand Pac-12 Network Access Now". He said they are also buying ad space this weekend to drum up awareness.

At this point we really need alums to call Comcast to show consumer demand. That is the most effective measure right now for us, even though we can't measure the call volume on our end.

I'm not sure what you can do out in DC as far as contacts. Give me any ideas you have and I'll run it by the team here.

I will send out info tomorrow regarding progress on this, which will hopefully be positive. But, in the meanwhile, please contact Comcast. Every call will help - you can make a difference here.

Thank you!

President
Cal Alumni Club of Washington DC

Thanks from those of us who want to see more than 1 of the first 4 Cal games this year.

IMO, if the Alumni Assoc. can't set up viewing at the Sign of the Whale or one of the Baileys we are screwed. Our only hope will be if someone sets up a Stream that is available to all on the internet.

This sucks, but the Big Boys don't want to play with the new kid............

I'm in the same boat, but dealing with Cox Northern Virginia instead of Comcast as my MIA provider. I've sent a ton of emails and make calls almost every day. It is sad when you reach the same customer service person on the other end and they recognize your voice.

Is Dave Timmons still the President of the DC Cal Alumni Association?

I might have an idea to save DC Cal Gamedays at Sign of the Whale (my favorite bar in DC...i miss that place!).

Can't someone just let the Alumni Association borrow their login info so they can hook up a laptop to the Bar's biggest TV? I would do it, but I have dish....

It's pathetic that anyone should have to go without watching the first game back at Memorial..

Great, you quoted before I corrected those odd typos.Haha.

But thanks Adrian. Can a few of you other folks just volunteer something similar for those groups who have posted on here about not having access? OC and SD groups come to mind.

If you add on more people, it slows down the connection, right?

You can only sling to one person at a time; it's a point-to-point stream rather than a broadcast.

Hence why I have 3 currently daisy chained together for Saturday. I've already borrowed all the slingboxes I can get my hands on from my friends; otherwise I would definitely offer to sling it to the folks at OC CAA.

I'm trying to get my sister to visit and login on xfinity to live stream the game. if it works, I have invited the local Houston alumni club over to my house. We'll see .... Gotta order the Top Dogs too .... May not happen until 9/8.

The stream is supposed to be available sometime in September, so not looking good for this weekend...

Find someone who has Time Warner or Comcast, ask to borrow their login info and watch online. That's what I'm doing right now and it looks friggin GREAT!!! Hook your computer up to the TV and you are in business.
