I remember years ago when the main guru and insider on the main Cal website on Scout was 71Bear. After being a long time sunshine pumper for Holmoe, after the first few games in 2001, 71Bear admitted that the Holmoe Era was over.
Now, after years of seeing the Bears do well in their openers, and do well at home, we can no longer even depend on those moments of hope.
MoragaBear, unfortunately, it is now your time to Man Up.

When he stops defending Bridgford, I will believe that he has come to his senses. Until then, he is nothing more than a shill for the program....

It isn't easy to admit that you are wrong. However, sometimes you simply have to realize that continuing to ride a loser will cost you what is left of your credibility. I know. I've been there.

Eat crap for dissing on MB and Bridgford. Props to you for calling out the Cal football team on our crappy performance...

I think the first game of the season against a team/scheme that obviously has our number might be a bit premature to draw too many conclusions.

That being said, I hope Maynard watches the tape and sees how their QB stops and delivers. His hesitancy killed us today. And please no more passes to CJ.

/me thinks liverflukes is still struggling with his new negabear feelings, is confused

no one is dissing MB or AB, they are just asking MB to ackn what others see as the obv writing on the wall that has been there for some time

I wholeheartedly agree....I think MB was the MF monitor that censored me too...

I have said for years that Bridgeford is not a Pac 12 quality qb. What evidence do you have that I am wrong?
You act as if this is a moral condemnation - he may be a great kid and a superb student who has a bright future as a doctor, lawyer, whatever he wants to be - he's just not a good qb.

Bridge just needs more time in the SYSTEM. Some more checkers too.

Wow......Good thinking! As a new sunshine pumper, I need to adjust my thinking to align with yours. Thanks a lot.

Did you see the Spring game? I did and I don't see how anyone who saw that can think Bridgeford will be a PAC12 quality ab. This is year 4 for him - we used to call such players Seniors in my day.

yeah....like ZM is a senior and not much better. what a hopeless lot...at least ZM can be better if the team is, AB just has Rileyitis and can't mentally get in the game...too bad cause he was great in high school

I thought going into this game that it was highly unlikely that JT would not return next year. After today, I think his chances of staying are definitely below 50%. There is still a lot of football to be played this year. 2006 is a reminder that we can come back from a disasterous start. The opponent and venue this year compared to 2006, however, were obviously starkly different.

I think that a lot of people would have been willing to give him another semi-pass this year, but the nature of this defeat was humiliating. Sure we left a bunch of points on the table and could have actually won this game with just a couple plays going differently, but in between those few plays were stretches where we were dominated by a lesser opponent who executed their game plan much better than we did. I'm not sure what speaks more to our team not being ready to play than having our starting QB benched to start the game for failure to follow team rules.

This wasn't an instance where a scrappy opponent stole one from us. If we had managed to win, it would have been us stealing the win. Having this be such a high profile game after such effort and investment from so many people in the AD and in the alumni community, I think is the determining factor. I didn't donate any money for the stadium, but I can't imagine being one who did and think that this type of result is why I donated all of that money and did whatever else has been done to support the AD.

I am really grateful to coach Tedford for all that he has done for the program. I am not convinced we will find someone significantly better than him. In fact, chances are we won't because it is actually hard to find a good head football coach. Most programs are not successful in that regard. I do believe that at the end of the year, Sandy and the leadership for the department will probably determine we are moving in a different direction for the football program. I hope we are lucky in finding a new football HC. I am not mad or resentful towards JT. I am sad that he hasn't been able to sustain a higher level of performance for the program or take us to a higher level that we all wanted to see and share.

For "years"? How many is that? More than 1 by the grammar. 2? 4? Were you calling him a not-Pac-12 quality QB when he was in high school?

Cmon. Give me a break. He may not be but the only one any non-coach, none-teammate could say this is if they saw him play significant time in actual games. Until then, you're pretty much talking out of your rear.

With that said, I've seen enough live game performance to try any of the other QBs we have in our stable.

I agree with your thoughtful post. It was domination by any measure- first downs , # of plays, total yards and rush yards (nearly 2 to 1).

Exactly. We did get enough breaks to make it look closer than it was. But, we lost the battle at the LOS most of the game. I would say that 75% of the plays were lost at the LOS. We made the most of the other 25% and that is why it was close.
