Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I thought Bigelow looked good out there on his few kickoff touches. He is fast, and he is going to do some things this year before all is said and done. He was close to breaking that last one, and I thought he had fire.

He's fast in a straight line, but doesn't seem to have the moves to make defenders close to him miss. I'm hoping he just needs more time to gain trust in his knee.

Agreed. Even the one toss he got, while the defender made a great play to stop him for 3, made me think of Jahvid FAST because if that guy missed it looked like it could be 6. I almost wanted us to call it again right away. Don't know why we didn't try it again in the game. :headbang

I love Sofele and CJ, but Bigelow looks like the kind of elite talent that can be a game changer. I think the toss pitch to Bigelow (with Sofele as back-up/relief to keep him fresh after long TDs, CJ in short yardage) in a two TE formation could be the base play/formation to design our whole offensive game plan around. It would give our team an identity, something other teams fear and have to try to stop, which by faking to it, would then open up everything else.

He did take a direct blow to that knee during the game, and popped right back. That is going to do great things for his confidence in his knee.

I want to see him a lot next week. He should get half the carries IMO.

I remain unimpressed. He may be under-utilized but Best, Jackson, Keenan, Marshawn-all made impressions as true freshmen. This is his second year and he's a kick off returner and a not particularly good one.

he could have turned the corner and made the Bear's longest run of the day by a running back (13 yards). His play has been so limited that it's hard to do a fair evaluation. I remember his kickoff return for a touchdown last season and all he did was make one cut going almost full speed against a cupcake team (Presbyterian?)...He DID seem to run in a straight line on his other KO returns. Cal has very little blocking on its kickoff unit so there's seldom wide open lanes for him to break long runs. GO BEARS!

Here's hoping Bigelow's fire can make up for Tedford's ice.

Yup he's still insecure about the knee or he doesn't have good instincts. That said, why doesn't our awesome coaching staff try and get him the ball in space as much as we can? PC did that the first two years of Bush's career, lining him up in the slot, getting him screens, whatever. If all he can do is run a straight line but can do it faster than everyone else on the field, just get him the ball then where he can go off to the races.
