Wasn't Matt Summers-Gavin having an MRI on his injured knee today?

If we lost our best OLman, this truly will be a long and difficult year.

The MRI results are a closely guarded secret. Even MSG doesn't know. The head football coach is playing this one close to the chest.

The rsults won't be released until Saturday. Don't want to give S Utah any advantage.

But regardless of the results, MSG will continue to take first team reps all week.

Hey BoaltB, when you post a ha-ha message it's better to have some kind of a tell, winky winky icon or some such familiar.

Upon hearing that JT will be coach all year, MSG went out and broke his other leg just for good measure.... you know, just in case.

I read that injury will keep him out of the 1st quarter of the SUU game but he should be able to play the final three quarters.

We can certainly use some good news re Matt. Speaking of which 5 star J. Bird (hoops) will announce tomorrow (Wed). One would be inclined to think it will be Cal... That would be some damn good news!

I wonder if the CHP incident led to cancellation of the MRI... for some reason I thought I heard the MRI was scheduled from JMRMC

Cal OT Matt Summers-Gavin won't play Sat. Has right MCL knee injury. No surgery for now. Is wk to wk. Bill Tyndall to start on right side.

Football: MSG to miss Southern Utah game

By Jeff Faraudo
Thursday, September 6th, 2012 at 2:00 pm in Football.

Jeff Tedford said Thursday that starting right tackle Matt Summers-Gavin has an MCL injury to his left knee and will not play Saturday against Southern Utah.

An MRI on Tuesday showed that Summers-Gavin does not have the more serious ACL injury. He will not have surgery and is week-to-week, Tedford said.

Summers-Gavin was limping noticeably as he walked toward the locker room with teammates after practice Thursday morning. He didn't look anywhere close to being ready to practice or play.

In any case, giving him this week off makes perfect sense. Bill Tyndall will start in his place against the Football Championship Subdivision Thunderbirds, who are facing a Pac-12 opponent for the first time.

That's somewhat of a relief, anyway. Maybe we can get him back for Ohio State and / or SC.

Coach M in his second year, needs to work with what he has to develop a productive OL. Schwenke is our best returning lineman, but at a new position.

Crosthwaite, Gibson, Williams and frosh need to be put in the mix. Time to think outside the 2-deeps and do some coaching. The time is now - this is not a rebuilding year..............IMO
