We need to make that DE pay for flying upfield like this. A shovel pass would do wonders. He's not even worrying about holding an edge.

hey, i have been very critical of maynard as well. and this has been a solid game by Maynard--most of all, he's been composed, DESPITE the sacks and pressure (see him against $C last year, exact opposite).

but he still needs to be consistent. jekyll hyde type of situation for him.

Completely agree with this. A delayed handoff or draw in his hugely vacated space might buy us some more time.

Last season at $cMaynard's problem wasn't the pressure by $c, but that he started forcing passes after we got behind. He was so intent on willing the team to victory that he stopped looking off receivers.

The same thing happened against UCLA.

He appears to have matured quite a bit. Against Texas in the bowl game he didn't fall apart despite the pass rush.

His pass blocking is better, and they call plays at LOS sometimes. That blitz pickup earlier really shows.
