I know a lot of people don't believe in moral victories, but this was a big one! Let's look at all of the positives that we can build on for the rest of the season:

-Closest game against USC in several years!

-First time all season holding a team below 30 points...against a team with multiple Heisman candidates!

-2 interceptions against the best player in college football

-Bigelow gets into the gameplan and gets 5 touches...at nearly 8 yards a touch!

-Much maligned kicker D'Amato nails 3 of 4 in a hostile road environment.

-Un-conservative game-calling. Who would have guessed that we'd have CJA throwing passes?

-Barkely held to under 200 yards

-Woods held to only 5 receptions and only 30 yards!!!

All sorts of great things to pull from in this game. I predict we beat ASU by 30. Great game, Bears!! Lots to be excited about! Goooooo Bears!

Might be time for souse to lay off the sauce. That being said, while everything you posted is *technically* true, I don't think anyone would really look at any of those as something that can be carried forward into the next game. We were blown out after all.

- Our QB Maynard did not get hurt from all those sacks/hits he took.

We're looking at 1-11 season without Maynard.

The thing is that there doesn't seem to be a recruited QB that could beat out Maynard over the spring and summer/fall workouts. Ominous.

I don't. Not necessary that there is a better QB at this moment, but when Maynard gone Tedford might actually play to the team's strength rather than Maynard's. The offense is just so hard to watch sometimes. Option run for no gain the first half, Maynard dropping back and getting flushed everytime the second half.

This team has some good backs; Anderson had some good punishing runs up the middle today, Bigelow had 8 YPC. Jesus, I cannot understand this Sofele on a pitch out or shotgun QB draw crap. If the Oline can't hold, stop calling 7 step drops... people here used to laugh at the bubble screens and crap, but they've worked this year. KA is a play-maker and great in 1 on 1 YAC situations, feed it to him and let him do his thing. Harper and Treggs have shown some good vision/moves 1 on 1 too. The TE's Rodgers/Wark and Anderson can pick up solid yardage as an outlet/check-down.

Cal D stiffened at the end, held SC under 300 yards rushing for the game

I have yet to witness Cal take much of anything to the next game. 2 games played at a high level in a row is just too much to ask. Remember, they actually have to go to class during the week.
