Brilliantly put.

Tedford is clueless when it comes to changing a game plan midstride.

Rick and the other guys were wondering what Bigs needed to do to get in the game after his last performance.

Basically one of the announcers doesn't understand why Cal throws the ball with Maynard in at QB.

When Tedford slammed his clipboard after Riley inexplicably ran out the clock against OSU in 2007, I think he lost all semblance of logic and common sense. He really hasn't been the same ever since.

Do you really care what the weasel and those other pro-$C clowns say?
Ricky's opinion .... really?

That is because he really should have kicked the FG and had a chance to beat OSU in OT. In one play, he ruined Riley, and started the downward spiral.

I agree. It has been downhill since that play. I don't care if we've had winning records or not. Cal football has never been the same since that game.

Yes, the Pac studio hosts were politely flabbergasted with Tedford...

It's true. Our last big road win was against Oregon, one game before that game.

Ever since then, all we have is the "Tiger Woods" Big Game win in 2009.

Well, Ricky is definitely not pro-$c. And his take was correct in this instance.

By now, everybody is thinking it. All coaches, all sports media. Look at the polls. Not even a single vote in any of them. The man has lost all respect from not only the punditry but also all his peers.

And who could blame them?

Bigelow had a very nice third quarter. Where the hell was he in the fourth? Saving him for ASU? Even if a decoy, it might have been nice that he was on the field. The ball really is not that heavy....

I've never had anything against Rick. I think he brings a lot of insight into the game anylasis. While the other announcers really let Tedford have it, Rick restrained himself and said Cal gave up on the run and that he didnt understand why Tedford didnt play Bigelow more.

I suppose the decision to go for it with Riley back then is debatable, but if we assume that going for 3 would have been the correct call, it leaves me feeling like that roll of the dice and rather epic fail, left him a changed man. And now when it seems like JT should go for it, he recoils and usually goes conservative. Poor guy, it has backfired so many times over the years.

As a result, there have been precious few times since OSU that the Bears have even gone for the 4th and 1 type plays. Sure there have been some, but we haven't had many chances and that of course limits the possibility of having those moments in time where the team is electrified and feels a huge momentum swing.

Plus it is damn fun when it works (and a damn shame when it doesn't) and we know the players all love when the coach tells 'em to go and kick some butt and get a first down or whatever.

Of course, back then our o-line play was typically a lot better and it makes it a lot easier to go for it when you have the dudes in the trenches that move people.

I don't think so. JT just wandered out onto the freeway on his own.

He has lost all common sense!

Our team is one of, if not THE, worst teams in the NCAA.

What a joke!

When do you suppose Cal will get serious about playing the game of football????

I'm not holding my breath. I think I need to change allegiance at this point...

I'm trying to figure out how to hold the office of President before I actually vote for one. How will I know what I want in a President unless I've done the job myself?

Meh, that doesnt quite fit. It really wasnt a "go for it" type play. It was a more of a "look and see" and " if nothing is open, throw it away". That's the only problem I have with your analysis - it really wasn't an aggressive play. If Riley had more experience he would have thrown it away. The biggest issue was riley was green and there weren't any time outs to explain the situation to him.

IMHO, for your theory to work, it the play would have been more like JT rolling the dice. But in reality, it was more of a training issue with Riley. There was no real risk involved in that play with a veteran QB.

Actually, before that play we had just gotten a first down on pass interference, so the clock was stopped for the penalty and the moving of the chains. Tedford had time to instruct Riley but didn't.

Then played Longshore injured and ruined him while blaming the whole thing on Desean Jackson.
