Even though it may be comparing apples to oranges, Holmoe was 3-2 against USC while JT is 1-9.

So, the worst coach ever has 60% winning rate against the Trojans while JT is just 10% against them.

I find this incredibly amusing in light of another debacle in LA.

USC needs to bring back Paul Hackett!

Tedford couldn't beat the weasel consistently. Or Dorell.

Hackett may have run Tedford ragged.

I thought we'd agreed as a community that our performance is the tree sitters' fault?

That would take JT to about 8-9% and the win took 3 OT's. I will bet if you go as far back as you can even though the series is something like 40-60, no coach has had a worse record against USC than this clown.

I know what you are saying, but it says a lot more about the state of USC in the late 90's. Hard to believe SC let it go on for so long.

I hate to redirect the question but how about JT vs Holmoe the past 3 years. Granted Tedford hasn't pulled a 1-10 season yet but it feels like we are on the same rapid decline.

Not only is the season W-L record narrowing between the two but here are some other signs of similarity:

1. Very good players who come here and never develop into their full potential. Actually I would say that Holmoe recruited better than JT (without Tosh). Holmoe had Boller, Lyman, MacArthur, etc.

2. A revolving door of coaches and offensive systems. The Steve Hagan experiment under Holmoe was as laughable as Tedford's incorporation of every multi-colored offensive schemes which attempt to implement the good of every system.

3. Stupid penalties.

4. Wasted time-outs. Who will ever forget the UCLA game under Holmoe. We had the ball 4 and goal to goal at the UCLA 1 yard line. Holmoe crashed the middle on two plays even though UCLA had 10 men in the box. Sound familiar? Holmoe then called a time out. Our 5'4" midget QB named Justin Vedder leads the team out to the LOS. Holmoe calls another time out only this time he brings out our bigger QB Sam Clemens who promptly attempts to sneak it in with 11 Bruins stacking the box. Two burned TOs and no points and three attempts right into the gut of a stacked box.

5. Players quitting on the coach. Players under Holmoe looked defeated before the game began. The one that comes to mind is the opener against Illinois. The one that comes to mind under the Tedford era are two UW away games. We got torched in both of them.

6. A loss of confidence in the coach to right the ship. We haven't got to this point yet with Teddy but I don't think we are too far away. At least Holmoe knew it was time. I sent him an email he was gracious in reply acknowledging that his time had come. He held on not for the money but because he made promises to the players and felt badly about leaving. Tedford makes way too much money just to walk away from it and lose the remaining compensation. Furthermore, I don't think Tedford is the kind of person who could look his players in the eyes, accept full responsibility while saying "I let you down and I am resigning because you need a better coach than me."
