Funny, I'm likely to watch more. As I don't GAF about the NFL other than how former Cal players do, I can't say I give two runny craps who wins any given game. And, with incompetent refs incompetenting the hell out of these hallowed games that so many good folk take so seriously, this is high entertainment. High, I say.

Understandable, but I actually enjoy the sport and this team. This reminds me of when I stopped watching boxing. What a sham.

...the earlier pass interference they called on the Packer corner who was being grabbed by the Seahawk receiver was ludicrous in its own right and gave them about a 40 yard penalty.

These owners are all billionaires and the players make millions and they are going to ruin their product over money that is probably in the thousands?

I gave up on baseball when they struck and didn't play the Series and it took about a decade to get my interest again. This whole thing sucks and affects the season big time.

For those without TV...

Seahawks down by 5. 8 seconds left. No timeouts. Hail Mary to the end zone. Golden Tate shoves defender in obvious, over-the-top offensive PI. Another Packer defender (MD Jennings) clearly catches the ball in the end zone and goes to the ground maintaining control. Golden Tate (sort of) wrestles the ball away once the play is clearly over.

TD Seahawks. Game over.

Except Tate never got control of the ball. He got a hand on it after Jennings brought it down to his chest.

Golden Tate's push-off denial: "Don't know what you're talking about."

Sounds like a guy who plays for Pete Carroll.

I think I'm with you. I think I'm boycotting the League until the regular refs are back.

Roger Goodell should be fired for this. This is a fundamental mismanagement of a product. The product is the League. The decision to nickel and dime the regular officials when you are the most profitable and solvent professional league in the US is beyond irresponsible.

The man is an imbecile. If the regulars aren't back by the next game I'm not watching.

I don't like Goodell all that much but he really isn't the imbecile here....remember, he works FOR the owner basically. He may be part of the problem but it is the OWNERS who are keeping the refs from working...Goodell is really only their water boy....

Love it! Seattle was due for some ref magic...they gave Super Bowl to Steelers of course. Now tied with Noners. Go Hawks!!!

Not quite. Goodell is the Commissioner, and it's his job to put the owners in their place from time to time. He's got to stand up to them to protect the league. Is it a hard job? Sure, but it is his job.

A CEO isn't the "waterboy" to his board of directors.

Thanks. Just saw the clip on youtube too. What a joke. Poor AR.

I just drove through downtown Seattle by the stadiums and saw tons of Packer fans but they seem to be taking it okay. Once they watch the replays though...

at 8:35 left in the 4th quarter, *that* was roughing the passer? I wonder if regular refs would have made that call..

ESPN has highlights up now. Several angles on that play. Pretty clearly an INT.

Adam Schefter just said on TV that Goodell answers to the owners..that is good enough for me. I didn't say he doesn't have some blame if you read my post, I said the owners deserve as much or more...they pull the strings here whether Roger stands up to them or not

What's crazy is how far ESPN is taking this on sports center right now. It's been 2 hours of b!tching about this bad call. It's getting more attention than if someone died. It's more than a little too much (then again I haven't changed the channel so.....).

And as you say, it's not like there haven't been other horrible calls by real refs in the past with even bigger implications.

I don't necessarily disagree. Owners bear plenty of blame here--they're driving this. But the owners's stance isn't surprising--they always want to maximize their income and minimize expenses. The reason there is an NFL Commissioner is to serve as the mediator in these conflicts and ensure they don't degrade the product.

He's failed here. Big time.

I disagree. This was the first time where the replacement referees caused a game to be lost due to pure incompetence - with everyone knowing ahead of time that it was going to happen, and everyone in disbelief as it happened. After a weekend of TERRIBLE refereeing, watching this game on Monday Night - everyone will be talking about this. This was Green Bay, who may be left out of the playoffs because of this call. This was Seattle, who is now in first place because of this call.

This was the SECOND LEGITIMATE turnover ON THIS DRIVE that was taken away by poor refereeing. The entire seahawks final drive was by penalties. The entire drive. The seahawks did not get a single yard on the final drive by offensive play - entirely by referees.

These are not insignificant things. It was a joke, and I was watching incredulously as it unfolded. It was the single worst refereeing job I have ever seen at any level of sport, including my sons U8 soccer games where the mom from the other team is the referee.

This is the equivalent of a 5.0 earthquake for ESPN, especially since they pay $1 billion (or more?) for Monday Night Football -- way more than NBC pays for Sunday Night Football.

Holy crap. I'm still not sure if that was an interception or a catch at the end. Russell Wilson, damn. Sad that Packers lost, but that Seahawks D played lights out tonight. Congrats.

True enough.

Not that it will matter, but I'm writing the front office of my team and telling them that I am boycotting their product until the real refs are back.

The saddest thought in all of this is that we could actually give the NFL our Pac-12 refs and it would be an IMPROVEMENT.

This is clearly the event that will help to settle the labor dispute and get these replacement refs back to their regular jobs - AS PAC 12 OFFICIALS!!!
