Evil v. Evil. Unfortunately, they can't both lose. But if it was up to you, who would you have win the game?

Stanford is our rival. Many friends and family and co-workers around here went there. They are a fine academic institution and not evil.

Now Washington, they ARE evil. From the ex-USC coach right on down to Tosh and the fact that they are a cruddy 2nd rate school and are in a place that resembles Gotham City...pure evil!!!!

Wow, I can't bring myself to vote for either one. I guess it is better if Stanford picks up a loss and UW loses at Oregon and to USC at home in the next two weeks.

I will enjoy someone's loss.

We just have to beat both when we get them at CMS.

See, I have to vote the other way. I have already accepted that for the time being, Furd appears to be the stronger team, even if they lose tonight. It is our turn to do something to turn the tables again in the near future, but I don't see that happening this season.

But it's not so clear with Washington. We are in a close race with them right now, so I'd like to see them taken down a peg. If it has to be by Furd, so be it.

Furd to win*gag*.

It seems like we will be competing with UW for recruits and for which big program is least mediocre. It's prob in our best interest for them to lose.

Oregon is going to do well regardless
The Tree does their own thing in the recruiting world for the most part.
We will most likely continue to out recruit OSU and Wazzu

UW is in a similar situation to us, we can't have people buying into that "team on the rise" mantra.

UW needs to lose.

I agree with the above. Of course, if someone wants to root for UW instead, I have no problem with that. As I learned in my catechism class, long ago Oski descended from Mt. Sinai with two tablets. The first said, "Cal is your favorite team. Thou shalt put no false teams before the Bears." The second said, "In any other game, root for whomever the f*** you want." Words to live by.

I'm just glad there was nothing on either tablet about coveting my neighbor's wife...she's really, really hot.

Washington would also like to believe that they aren't the JV pushover that was blown out of Baton Rouge. The Husky defense is improved, but the offense is going to get smashed by the Tree defense.

Since I am too lazy to come up with a new response, I will re-post what I said on the Insider Board:

This year, and for this game only, I will suspend my default position of rooting against the Furd in every game.

I want the Furd to beat UW by 100 points, have a team of robber barons build a train and drive it through the center of Husky stadium, run over that damned dog, and then back up and run over the entire student section while playing All Right Now at sufficient decibel levels to shatter every plane of glass on Lupoi's boat and sink it to the bottom of Puget sound.

That is all.

I voted for Furd, but only if they win on a hail mary phantom touchdown play that gives them the win but leaves them feeling like they should've lost

Sorry, but you are wrong. The furd is a substandard academic institution, and it is evil. Perhaps you should reconsider who are your friends and co-workers. I guess there is little you can do about your family.

Both schools are evil.

I never bet online, but when I saw Furd was only -6.5, i went to some really sketchy offshore site and put down $100 on em. Hope my CC company doesn't get mad.

I can't explain why I voted for furd but I was pleasantly surprised to find I wasn't in the minority.

edit: Admittedly, since the furd looks like the stronger team, having beat $C, I suspect it helps us more if the dogs knock them off. But that doesn't matter to me. I hope furd lays a wooping on them.

this is my take ....u of wash is satans home and will be for a very long time ... sark did that bs to hurt CAL talent wise/ hurt the program ( not saying there are not other issues) not get a good coach or two not to make wash a better progam ... not get a recruiter for 2013!!! but to make sure shaq didnt come to CAL period point blank ...

thus i hate umeth aka washington ...

I think I want Washington win this game and then lose the rest.

I want Stanford to lose the rest of their games.

I want Cal to win the rest of our games.

I want every other game involving the Pac-12 South vs. the Pac-12 North to be a South victory.

The only way I could bring myself to even watch this game was to put money on UW to win (+225).

I still don't believe furd is as good as people are thinking. they seem to have sc's number, plus the game was at home. lets see how the new QB does in his first real away game.

I know UW is satan, but if furd is able to beat a somewhat decent UW team, in what will be an extremely hostile environment, at night, then its going to mean very very bad news for Cal for this year and possibly the next few years. It would mean that furd is actually pretty legit, and its not just Luck and Harbuagh. that would be bad. really bad.

UW on the other hand, who cares if they win a few games. sark is going to sink that program eventually. furd is the much bigger threat in the long run.

I dunno, I've heard less than stellar things about the 'homefield' the huskies have at centurylink. And it could be harder to get there for a 6pm weeknight game than CMS.

http://thehuskyhaul.com/2012/09/26/husky-football-attendance-optional/

I'd guess it will be somewhat dead at the start, and pick up later, but only if it's a game at that point.

I know its not quite husky stadium, but still, UW fans are much more rabid than Cal fans, unfortunately. i don't think its going to be like playing at AT&T last year.

I understand the home-field advantage they have, even at the Clink, but you can't be serious that beating UW is now the measure of whether Stanford (or any team, for that matter) is legit or not. UW? Just look at their Oline, down four starters from the spring. Their running game is weak, and Polk is long gone. Their D, while improved, is nothing to get too excited about. I don't see it.

If Stanford does win, I'll be happy to win a P12 road game, but it won't be the litmus test it is for you. And for the record, as good as I think my Cardinal are this season, I still don't see us getting over the Oregon hump this year. Here's hoping I'm right on the former and wrong on the latter.

Seattle is ok. It has the rock n roll museum and Kurt Cobain plus I liked that TV series about the lady detective where it rained every scene

Palo Alto is the most boring place in the history of the universe. It should be leveled and the rubble salted so nothing grows for a 1000 years

So, Washington

You might be right about their offense. Seems like that's still a bit of a question mark. But their defense seemed pretty damn legit against SC. I don't know how that defensive performance can be written off as a fluke. They just physically dominated.

I don't see the UW win alone legitimizing stanford. however, a win in a hostile environment legitimizes their win against SC in my mind. If furd loses, then the SC game may have just been a fluke.

a simple way of saying it is this; a lot of people now see stanford as being legit because they beat SC. I'm withholding judgment till they can do it on the road. truly good teams, like Oregon, just go into a place like seattle and roll. i think stanford is going to struggle mightily tonight...i'm really hoping i'm right.

I want UW to win because I don't want a scenario where Furd goes to the Rose Bowl. UW is the worse team, so I want everyone to just beat up on each other.

UW wins and both QBs goes down to minor, but lingering injuries would be the best case scenario.

Of course, what will happen is that Furd will dominate UW and then UW and Furd come into Memorial and dominate us. /CRYCRYCRY

We are beating Furd, and so is Oregon so they wont go anyway. I'd like the opportunity to knock off an over ranked top 10 Furd squad.

Fair enough. Fingers and toes crossed you're wrong. I honestly think you are, but I see the world through Cardinal-colored lenses, so I can't always trust myself. I think our D is for real, however, no matter how biased I may be. And, it seems to me, there's much room for improvement on the O.
