Per ESPN - Petersen against top 25 teams

But since that win over Oklahoma, Boise State has proven that they weren't just some one-hit wonder.

Starting with that win over the Sooners, the Broncos are now 9-2 in their last 11 match-ups against ranked opponents. And even more impressive, their domination of ranked opponents has grown over the course of those 11 games. In their last seven games versus top-25 teams, Boise State is 6-1 and the average margin of victory in the six wins is 11.8 points.

I would also suspect that most were away games.

I don't know what Koetter and Hawkins records against ranked teams were while at BSU but I suspect that it's not even close to Petersen's success.

You know if Cal played 9 cupcakes and had time to bone up on 1-2 tough games a year, I think we could do just as well as BSU. The fact that BSU isn't doing as well now in the MWC and its better comp says a lot.

Hypothetical question I know, but would you bet your house on that?

I agree that there is no way Peterson is close to being undefeated in the Pac12 with his great teams-that is a given. I disagree though that we could go across country and beat Georgia or VaTech in our openers. In fact I think we would be killed. The question here is also why didn't VaTech and Georgia prepare for their home openers against an opponent when they knew a loss would be a national embarassment-same with Oklahoma in its bowl game. The answer is they did. Peterson is also 4-1 against the Pac10 in his tenure. The guy can coach.

Not this season but in a good Tedford year, maybe...not the house but the Porsche. Say a Marshawn or DJax year...and look at who BSU played in '04.

Idaho*, Oregon State*, UTEP, BYU*, SMU*, Tulsa, Fresno*, Hawaii*, SJSU, LaTech*, Nevada and Louisville in the Liberty Bowl (loss). With Cal's 04 team against that schedule, okay I might bet the house. (* = home game)

Honestly I think the '04 Bears could run the table on that schedule. Here's the thing however -- BSU has had that kind of schedule for the past decade, and yeah, you get fat and healthy off cupcakes. Sorry but that schedule is unbelievably weak.

I love how we, as a program at 1-4, is talking down a team that is 3-1 ;-)

...but considering the last two head coaches to come from here, I am concerned that Boise State is a confluence of things that are not transferable to other places.

I like guys from the Conference myself.
