Because apparently it takes at least 2 years for a running back to learn our offense.

CJ got a big hit to his knee on that last half play, I wonder if he's going to be 100%.

He is, just rolled up a big gain.

Bigelow makes JT look bad by showing how useless his "playbook" is.

Cj actually looks better to me. He deserves to get bulk of carries. I like how bigelow is now getting 8-10 touches though.

I think the rb rotation is satisfactory now, not perfect, but satisfactory. Cj deserves the bulk of carries. Bigelow was involved. I'd like to see isi be solely used as 3rd down back and give cj and bigs everything else.

I like the rotation. CJ is our guarenteed 3-7 yard rush per attempt as long our OL doesn't let the defense into the back field.

Too much Sofele. Nothing against Sofele, but he's not nearly as quick and fast as Bigelow, and not nearly as big and strong as Anderson. Anderson and Bigelow should be getting all the touches when the game is on the line.

I'm with you on this.

Having three productive RBs is a cool thing, btw.

I never get how the Bigelow thing keeps raising its head....like the other 2 backs are chopped liver, and at a position that has been Cal's strongest over the last several years. Yeah, the Ohio St. run was one of the best in Cal's history, but again, the other guys can play. But oh, I forgot, so many of you see Bigelow in practice, so obviously you know his deal...
AND YES..I do believe he will be a great back...
Why can't there be obsession with why Tagoloa isn't in the game? The more he plays, the better he would be, and he plays Cal's weakest position...Not like he physically isn't there...

Isi is actually averaging more per carry than bigelow. I just don't like isi in goal line, as I don't think he can move the pile, or 3rd and 1.

It wasn't just one run at Ohio St. Bigelow had 2 long touchdown runs. Bigelow is just the superior player and it makes no sense to be giving Sofele twice as many carries as Bigelow, or Anderson, or Lasco in my opinion. Sofele is too small to run through people, and he's just not that fast. Every other back on our roster is more likely to break off a big run.

We ran for over 300 yards. STFU.

Rotation seems fine. We ran all over them and biggie was a part of that.

Biggie still seems to have issues with vision. A couple times he was stuttering instead of just decisively running (which led to him being tackled). CJ is able to shed more tackles than Biggie and looked good running down hill. Biggie tried to get the edge a couple times with mixed results (dependent on WSU coverage).

Hell no.

Both bigs and cja are yards after contact RBs. Isi is not. Any play that Isi breaks could be broken by CJA or Bigs. There is nothing he brings to the table except the ability to fall down without being tackled.

Isi should only see the fiield is the other three RBs are all injured.

Ummmm Isi averaged 4.5, while bigelow only had 7.4ypc against WSU.

Clearly he means against Nevada and ASU bigs was lower than Isi.

Exactly. I thought the rotation was fine. One thing that Bigs has problems with (besides not mastering the playbook LOL) is that in traffic, he hesitates whether to cut or lean forward and kind of stays upright, giving a defender a free shot to blow him up (and also not getting 2 extra yards he could get by just diving forward). He's doing this less this season as he was getting blown up left and right last season. Still, what Isi does is that he hits the hole really fast and he's also very low to the ground where defenses cannot find him initially. He's got some spin moves and is very strong. I think people are downplaying Isi's abilities. Unless defenders are in the backfield, Isi rarely gets squared up by a tackler. CJA has just flat out been impressive.

If we get 300 yards on the ground, there's not much to complain about. I guess we could have had 400, but I'm just not that greedy. Sure it may not have worked out as well against a better team, but we weren't playing a better team. Nice game Bears!

Dude... Isi does not need a big hit or a wrap up... he falls down on the first contact MOST of the time.

He is also ridiculously slow to hit the hole... I dont know what you are talking about on that one...

Eh, bagging on Isi is not my cup of tea... he did a lot for us last year... The point is he is simply not even close to the quality of CJA or Bigs. No question about it.

Well said. People forget how much Isi has improved from the start of last season to now. He still coughs up the ball a bit too much from what I can tell, but he's a legit Pac-12 tailback.

excuse, me 2 TD runs! If you feel like you can speculate about Lasco vs. Sofele, then obviously you are sneaking into practice.
I'm not worried if Sofele has a chance to break one for 70 yards-his proven value is taking a 1 yard gain and making it 4. Do I believe Bigelow will be great as a starter next year? Of course, why not. But the RB rotation is fine-again, much ado about nothing here.

The biggest stat in the run game was something like 20 first down by the run. Says you controlled much of the game. ZM running for 78 yards on 10 carries was very good as well

Are people missing the point about Bigelow not getting a chance? It's not that Sofele hasn't performed, and Anderson may just be the best of the three--were he given more carries.

The point about Brendan is that he EARNED the right to start after his performance against OSU. Putting him in and letting him play (until he doesn't perform or screws up), incentivizes all the players on the team to work harder, knowing they will get their shot if the perform. It also lets recruits know, that if they come to Cal, they will get a chance to start if they perform. The message now (which EVERY recruiter in the conference is telling the recruits) "Go to Cal, and no matter what you do, if the coaches like another player better, you will never get off the bench."

I feel it's the people who are always pointing out the shortcomings who are the instigators. But of couse, you choose to come after me.

BS, there are plenty of young guys playing. Many true freshman have played for this staff. Your insinuation is that the coaches don't like Bigelow and that they play him reluctantly. That just doesn't pass the sniff test.

Whether or not Sofele is a legit tailback isn't really the point, if by legit you mean he can earn a start position on a couple less talented Pac-12 teams.
Tim Mixon was a very good punt returner, but to have him return punts ahead of DeSean Jackson was madness and stupidity. Jackson may be the best ever.
Playing Sofele ahead of Bigelow is just as puzzling.

CJ - 15-18 touches
Bigs - 10-12 touches
Isi - 4-6 touches

That seems about right to me...the thing is, having Bigelow in the game has opened things up for the passing game, and allowed Maynard to use him as a decoy to gain yardage himself. Finally...
