Before yesterday's game, they announced the starting offense and starting defense, as usual. The starting linebackers: Jefferson, Scarlett, McCain, Forbes.

The first play from scrimmage, the tackle is made by Robert Mullins. ??

So where does the lineup come from that's announced before the game, and does it have any meaning at all?

I used to think it was him being coy and wanting to gain the upper-hand on the opponent. Now I just think it is another detail he doesn't give a **** about. Who cares if the announcer doesn't know who is starting, as long as we get to know what a player is afraid of. They might as well not announce anything. I noticed that too. Jefferson didn't play a down. He must be hurt or suspended or something.

30 seconds after hearing the PA announcer say that Scarlett was starting, I had my binocs trained on him on the sidelines, where he was wearing track pants with no pads or helmet.
