While not ruling out an anti-athlete Professor at Cal, it could have been a Professor at Butte JC.
At the JC level, saying you want to play in the NFL really does look like Dreamland and the Prof may have been brutally frank and honest at the time.
That said, it just as well could have been somebody at Cal trying to crush AR's dream.

It happened in Food Appreciation class. We have a food appreciation class?!?!?
You can listen to the interview here. It comes in the last 10 minutes.

So at SC a few years, the teachers actually took the student's tests for them, and there was no probation.
At CAl, teachers go out of their way to fail football players - no wonder our APR sucks. Rodgers should name names, so the press can go harrass that professor - she is not worthy of the name.

For criminy sakes, this is a food appreciation professor? Who gets a PhD in Food Appreciation, someone who doesn't have the brains to get a degree in Biology or even Food Technology?

ok I'm going to play devils advocate here, what kind of an idiot gets an F in food appreciation?

You didn't read the story did you...

was a project where they didn't cite something correctly. with all the tutoring staff available to athletes it still seems absurd.
edit: sure the F on the re-write is probably the prof being a bitch trying to "impart wisdom" but my point still stands I think...

The late Prof. William Slotman (of Habsberg Monarchy fame) told me in McNally's Pub in 1975 that he had just given a certain Cal football player an "F for Falcons" on a history paper in honor of the team that had just drafted him and because he knew he did not write the paper.
You can't blame Tedford. My son had several professors just like that when he played. With Tedford's help and encouragement he graduated in 4 years in spite of them. GO BEARS!!!Geotnabear;841985344 said:
Are you talking about condom players taking some spanish class at a local jc? I remember that bullsh!t.
Also, we were placed in probation for academic fraud a while back.
A lot of kids are failing because they don't do what's necessary to pass the damn classes. Maybe Tedford's academic support infrastructure has tanked in recent years, just like his coaching.
Tedford just doesn't pay attention to little things like he used to. Majority of blame should go to Tedford instead of teachers/profs for our sh!tty APR.

ok, so who here is going to volunteer to do the legwork to see who this professor was (for the record i have my finger on my nose). i doubt it would be that hard to see who the food appreciation professor was in 2003-2004.

I suspect this happened at Butte and not at Cal.

I love Aaron Rodgers.
But I have enough experience to know that you should take the claims of students who fail with a grain of salt. Something doesn't sound right here. Without knowing her side of the story, I am reserving judgment. I have had to fail a few students and it is never fun. I got a call from a parent once whose kid told him a lot of crazy stories about what I supposedly told her along the way.
Holmoephobic;841985580 said:
Agreed, but Aaron' Rodgers isn't your average guy. He brought this story up as a clear "chip on my shoulder" moment. Why would a guy known for his high moral character randomly make up this story? Was he not an academic all American at cal?
Is it more likely that one of our anti-athlete professors had a "moment" or that Aaron Rodgers is lying through his teeth? If you listen to the part of the interview where he recalls the professor laughing in his face, it seems too genuine to be a lie.

Seriously I smell some baloney, just not sure where it's coming from. For one, to get an F you have to actually try and do absolutely nothing to get an F. I'm not bragging but I've blown off classes at Cal, never showed to class, never read the assignment but did the midterm and final and passed.
