Dish (either DTV or Dish) is always better than cable. It's cheaper and has better DVR and receiver technology. Since DirecTV doesn't have Pac-12 Network, then you only have one option for a satellite provider. My bill is also crazy since I switched to Time-Warner. I had other reasons for switching to T-W rather than Dish, including that Dish did not have P-12 N at the time I switched. But there's also local programming that DTV and Dish don't have here in Honolulu. Good luck.

What is the DVR/receiver technology of which you speak? Just curious. I think Dish has some Slingbox capable DVRs... is there anything else the satellite companies do?
I have Comcast in SF... not going to switch anytime soon, but it's good to know the options for the future. The Comcast Motorola DVRs are pretty shitty. I also have a TiVo Premiere which I like, but nothing's perfect.
Anyway, it sounds like people really love DirectTV and wouldn't switch if they could get the P12 networks and Time Warner Sports (in the LA area).

Didn't Dish buy SlingBox?
Anyway, when I looked about 4 mths ago, the Sling adaptor was less than a $100 (think more like $50), so economical way to get Sling Box (with apps for phone and pretty much everything else).
And yes, AMC is back on my menu (Channel 131).
First weekend of football season, 3 Pac12 games were on simultaneously (the 2 overflow channels were HD, while the main channel was not yet HD capable, but has been HD for about a month now).

Wondered if you guys had any experience with ATT Uverse? Are there still pixelation issues? Any info on this package?

I thought DISH doesn't carry local networks, which means you lose out on national sports broadcasts which are hosted by local networks. Is this the case? This has always kept me from considering DISH.

The T-W DVR receiver looks like it's from the 80s.
and issued me the newer model dvrs made by Cisco, the company that absorbed S-A. They also have a Samsung dvr according to the CSR who handled my case. Californication;841986504 said:
And DTV is not entirely to blame. They only want the same deal DTV gave to Big 10.

The Scientific Atlanta (S-A) dvrs T-W Oceanic initially installed crapped out within 2 weeks. When the replacement S-A ones required constant re-booting, I blew my stack which made the company put me on the VIP list (:acclaimand issued me the newer model dvrs made by Cisco, the company that absorbed S-A. for those of you on Dish, how well does the whole home DVR service work? How is it all interconnected: wireless, coax, ethernet? How well does the mobile Sling client work? I use the iOS app, and it's pretty unstable over cellular... keeps crashing.
