Did you see the triple amputee Marine Corp veteran throw out the first pitch and it was a strike? I had tears rolling down my face. Seriously. And the worst thing that happened to me last week was a Big Game loss. That put sh!t into perspective.

Go Giants!!!

Verlander's annual salary is 40 x Fister 's. And Fister performs after taking a head shot. Is someone under paid? You can't buy heart. Go Merced!

Fister isn't gonna be underpaid for too much longer the way he pitches. Is he from Merced?

I didn't want to be so vulgar as to point out that his full name constitutes a complete sentence. Not many names do that.

Why would anyone want to live in Merced?

Maybe he's been hit in the head before.

However, there is a UC there, you know.

Another great game for the G-men. Team has a lot of heart and is used to winning these sorts of anti-shootouts. Hopefully they can keep the train rolling in Detroit this weekend. And hopefully Cal can take out some frustrations on Utah - a sound thrashing would do wonders for a beleaguered fan base, at least I hope so.

I spent most of the evening reading the Detroit News after the game. They actually have about half a dozen really good sports columnists. A lot of complaining in the comments about the tight strike zone, but really hard to argue that the Giants aren't just outplaying the Tigers in every conceivable way. Now we bring our two best pitchers out. Who would have thunk it.

Yeah but listening to the Baseball Tonight commentators we've been winning because of lucky breaks, the long layoff and whatever they can use to explain why their predictions of Detroit running away with it have not panned out.

Listening to SC you'd think the Tigers were the first team to ever make the ship after a few days break. Unchartered territory.

I was at the game tonight. After missing out in '10 waiting for game six with my tickets when the Giants clinched in five, I didn't want to miss out again.

Here are some shots from tonight I took:

Pence with sac fly for 2nd run

Pence gets congratulations after driving in Pagan

Belt snags foul pop

Casilla in the 8th

Panda takes a pitch

Last night's game turned on a few plays. Could have gone either way. Tigers aren't out of it by any means and Fister pitched a great game.

It was a close one, though at this point the Tigers have to be worried -- these first two games were supposed to be favorable pitching matchups for them, and they lost both. What's worse, both games displayed exactly the weaknesses people thought the Tigers might have: poor defense & baserunning, and a shaky bullpen.

It's baseball, so obviously anything can happen, but this is basically worst-case scenario for the Tigers.

Great photos MB. Thanks for sharing. A friend sent me pics last night from my old seats at AT&T. A group of us had gone in on a pair of season tickets when Pac Bell Park first opened that I had to give up an ownership in when I moved ten years ago. I was mildly jealous as a lifelong Giants fan who's never personally witnessed their championship seasons. It must've been fun to say the least.

If only our Bears could start winning like the Giants......
Go Giants!

Go Bears!

Where's SchadenBear to give us his astute analysis on the Tigers and Giants payroll to "heart" ratios?... Two things which are directly correlated apparently.

Yeah, whatever happened to the milkshake? Haven't seen him in awhile.

Anyway, thanks for the pics MB. They look awesome. I'm still wrestling with whether to try to get to game 6. Hopefully there won't be one.

Yeah - not sure how the east coast media was able to turn the Giants into underdogs, but it certainly isn't hurting their play. How a team one season removed from a championship, which had the most all-stars in the league and had a far better record in the regular season (4th in MLB, as opposed to 11th for the Tigers) is being portrayed as the underdog is bizarre. In a vacuum, would have to think the Giants are a strong favorite. I get that the Tigers looked great in playing the yankees - but who doesn't? The yankees looked terrible in barely squeaking out the series win against Baltimore.

Because is ESPN's eyes, anyone who can beat the Yankees/Red Soxs is the best team in the world.

It's pathetic. East coast bias to the highest extreme. Im glad it motivates the Giants.

I look forward to seeing the Giants win the world series and then be picked by the "experts" to finish 3rd in the NL west next season. Same experts who thought the Phillies would be unbeatable.

I was ticked off at the many ANALysts who kept making excuses for the Tigers, but then I read a number of Tiger fan posts that said suck it up because we heard the same thing when we beat the Yankees. Just goes to show, as Cal Panda Bear says, the Yankees, Red Sox, etc. remain the benchmarks in the eyes of the media.

But I continue to remain ticked at Curt Schilling who called Bumgarner's performance "mediocre at best" then followed that with the backhanded compliment that he "grinded it out." I wonder if Curt even watched the game. I would bet he was too busy talking.
