Funny you don't see those who defended Tedford's incompetence...

...at every turn posting anymore. Oh, they were very wrong.

Tedford as a lousy coach is no revelation. Yes, there are financial/future attendance reasons but the university owes it to the great kids who have committed to Cal to get rid of him.

Still don't follow the notion of giving Tedford credit for "sticking around." This is a guy who demanded a $500k bonus on top of the already high salary he demanded to coach through the stadium opening.

Good riddance.

I would not call it funny.

I was hoping they were right. I hate when my negativity turns out to be correct.

What is troubling for Sandy is that if the INTERNET cannot produce people willing to defend him, even as trolls, in larger numbers than BobbyG, things are VERY bad for the program.

People like to pretend that forums like this are not representative of the fan base. I disagree. They are a very good way to see the general feeling of the fan base. It is pure unfiltered opinion. It is almost 100% anonymous so people are free to say whatever they are REALLY thinking, without censoring to avoid risking breaking relationships. You will NEVER see someone go off on Sandy in person, regardless of how they real feel, for example.

You have to understand though, that the pumpers will over shadow the negas after wins, and then it will flip after losses. When we are doing "OK" negas will be more vocal.

When things really get bad, the pumpers stop posting, apathy sets in, and if you see that on the INTERNET, it is only a short time before it shows in the stands. Average fans care less than the people who used to post and now dont have the desire to bother defending.

It takes a special kind of person to be so sure of one's own opinion that they have to constantly post negative things about people they don't know personally. Even more "special" is the person who needs frequent congratulations to boost their own ego.

Some of us prefer to say something positive or say nothing at all. When there isn't much positive to say, it isn't very fun to post.

And finally, when one's posts are met by such intense vitriol for trying to be positive, I can understand why some posters fall back. Just like when Cal wins a game we don't hear from people who get such joy out of being negative. And yes, no matter how you color it, that's really how most people on here come off.

I'm no JT defender, but I don't quite get the need for this thread.

Are you for MoragaBear to mail you some sort of "BearInsider Forum Right Guy Champion" trophy or are you just bored?

You might be SmellinRoses, but I'm smelling a turd of a thread.

I give posters like BobbyGBear a lot of credit. They are on an island at the moment. A very unpopular one at that with a dwindling population. I agree with most of your points Phantom. There are many pumpers that have just given up posting due to the circumstances. I would argue however that many, myself being the primary example, have awoken to the reality of the situation. These past three seasons, I've have kept waiting for JT to turn the program back in the right direction and now am at a point where I realize that the chances of that happening are becoming more and more remote (if not impossible) with each passing week. Honestly, despite knowing this, I still harbor the hope for a miracle that will likely never happen. Like a lover spurned, the pumpers will go through a heartbreak period and then a period when change is absolutely welcome. I'm at that latter stage.

BobbyG is all that is left, so his name stuck out.

We have Californication(?) who claims to still support Tedford (I think), but is unwilling to bother with posting his opinion.

The lack of BobbyG's, the growth of NYCGB's, and the silence of Califorincation's is why Tedford will be fired VERY quickly. If that is how the internet plays out, that is how the real world is turning.

No one on this site is here because they are sitting at home drinking Red Bull and Mountain Dew and got tired looking at Porn. The fact that Calfifornication thought defending Tedford was a good use of his time, and now does not says more about The state of the program than the state of the board.

The lack of enthusiasm from the "pumpers" has been drained by reality.

That said. I hope we go 4-0 and Tedford is coach next year. I am saddened by his fall. I Was REALLY hoping for a Bowden for Cal.

Any Cal fan, even the ones that have been right about Tedford for a long while, that are not saddened by his ultimate failure bother me. To be more concerned about the vindication that comes with being correct than the state of the program is troubling. The spirit in which this thread was started is worrisome.

So, because some negas were right about the downfall of JT , everyone who was a pumper, Birgeneau, administration, SB, donors, other fans, media, etc. should all lay prostrate and admit to our hubris and beg for forgiveness for having horrible judgment? Just in case you don't get it.

If JT had the turnaround year that I was expecting, then yes, I would have felt the same way about the anti-JT crowd. Since this season has melted into a total pile of goo (again!), well, it is time to admit that I was wrong and posters like 71Bear, GummyGrizzly, Agureghian, OskiMD, AZGoldenBear, SacCityBear, GoldenBear2012, and countless others were correct in their assessment of our Head Coach. The rose colored glasses are now finally off (actually since the Nevada game). Hopefully we can all get back on the same page when the announcement of our new Head Coach is made.

This graduation rate mess is really disturbing. Tedfraud indeed!

Problem is: basketball is likely to struggle a bit this year (MM has as much as said that he expects us to be good in '13-'14, but this year may be a bit of a struggle, at least first).

Any bets on who will be the first posters to say he's "lost it" and needs to go?

Turning the tide on this board had nothing to do with you convincing anyone. It had to do with the play on the field. And even the great majority of us on this board have nothing to do with the actual decision makers and no one cares what any of us think (except if we stop coming to games and buying tickets).

You sound as if you think all your hard work has finally paid off and Tedford will be fired because of all your convincing.

Honestly, it depends on the ex-pumper. A lot of sunshine pumpers accused (explicitly or implicitly) negabears of not being real fans, or not supporting the team. In fact, some do that to this day. Those pumpers need to eat humble pie.

The pumpers who simply pumped their sunshine and didn't make discouraging comments to negabears or question the validity of their posts are A-okay in my book.

Stupid things were said on both sides. Being correct or incorrect about a situation does not absolve anyone from that. Also, calling fans "real" or "not real" is silly. Continuing to bring it up is also silly. The whole thing is a childish argument.

Questioning anyone's comments that we may not understand or agree with in a smart logical manner is what all of us should do.
