Look, we're losing this game like usual, do something JT. Don't just go down like you usually do. It's not about Maynard per se, it's about trying something different. Goodness my man why won't you even try to save your job?

This is why I want Tedford fired before the season ends. At least there might be a chance that the interim coach might play Hinder, Bridgford, or Boehm. Although, probably they wouldn't this late in the season.

I think those huge AT&T headsets are noise cancelling. He's probably replaying his career in his head right now, remembering some good times at Oregon, that Fiesta Bowl year, and also the 2004 season. Good times.

Play someone who might be a real qb? No way! That might mean he actually really wants to win football games!

There are no lifeboats KAB....JT is gonna stubbornly go down with the ship without so much as a whimper..

I think Tedford blames us for his failures. Sticking with Maynard and sitting Bigelow to spite us.

Maynard, Maynard, Maynard.

Seriously -- did Tedford guarantee Keenan that Maynard would get and keep the starting job?

I mean, this is what's happening, right?

Losing his job while sticking to his guns is probably less of an embarrassment in his eyes than making a change after all this time, essentially conceding to the world that what he's been trying to do the last 20 games has been a complete failure. Tedford I imagine has too much pride for that kind of move. And I could be dead wrong.

That seems reasonable and is consistent with what we know about JT's personality.

I don't think you are wrong. Right now I figure the only thing Tedford really has left is his stubborn pride. For him to make the kind of changes the fans are demanding would be also accepting the reality that he just can't coach and has assistants who are dragging him down.

I just can't picture him doing that.

This is all on Tedford and his neglect of recruiting and development of O Linemen. This is the worst O Line in Tefords tenure, hands down. You put in a pocket passing QB and he'll get injured. There is not pocket with this group. Just smokescreens about miscommunication? This 'miscommunication' looks a lot like being outplayed and making dumb decisions.

Noooo! Do a Gilby and burn Zach Klein's redshirt. That's what my buddy Keith G recommends!

Maynard, who is about as well built as Kate Moss, has not had any injuries after getting sacked over 35 times or so this season. I think a replacement will be just fine if a toothpick like Maynard can withstand all those sacks. This isn't the NFL.

Just came over after watching the Giants/Tigers game

Isi 10 carries, CJA 2 carries, Bigs ZERO? Down 28-6

Just disgusted, let's see some changes

Hey come on now. If JT had pulled ZM, Cal could have lost tonight's game 20-49. That last Cal TD will pay big dividends in the upcoming games. It means that Cal tied Utah in the 2nd half. It provides proof positive that ZM is on his way back to his form against ucla and WSU and goes a long way to eliminating the prior 6 horrible quarters (the 4 against stanfurd and the first 2 against UU).

There were only 3 turnovers (and his Oline kept it from being 4 by recovering ZM's other fumble). So JT can take solace in this.

You know ZM has a fragile ego. You can see how angry gets when the receivers fail to make superhuman catches that only Spiderman could make (as Troy Taylor remarked)

If JT were to play another QB it would only cause further problems.
1. It gives one of those guys an edge over the others in the Spring. That is unfair.

2. If that QB does does well, that might lead the others to transfer.

3. If that QB out-performs ZM, it would hurt his feelings and would get KA angry if he realized that some other QB (other than his Bro) might have upped his stock in the 2013 Pro Draft. It would make the entire team angry to think that maybe they could have gone to a bowl game at the end of the 2012 season. JT does not want a lot of hurt feelings all around.

[This reminds of the scene in The Adventures of Baron Von Munchausen. Where a the local bureaucrat orders the death of a soldier who had just performed some heroic action.
Horatio Jackson: Ah, the officer who risked his life by singlehandedly destroying...
Functionary: [whispering in his ear] Six.
Horatio Jackson: *Six* enemy cannon and rescuing...
Functionary: Ten.
Horatio Jackson: Ten of our men held captive by The Turk.
Heroic Officer: Yes, sir.
Horatio Jackson: The officer about whom we've heard so much.
Heroic Officer: I suppose so, sir.
Horatio Jackson: Always taking risks far beyond the call of duty.
Heroic Officer: I only did my best, sir.
Horatio Jackson: Have him executed at once.
Soldier: Yes, sir. Come along.
Horatio Jackson: This sort of behavior is demoralizing for the ordinary soldiers and citizens who are trying to lead normal, simple, unexceptional lives. I think things are difficult enough as it is without these emotional people rocking the boat.]

Thanks. It is nice to have fans like you.

I guess every fan in every sport is "stupid" who continues to support his/her team even when the team is losing and when that fan is convinced that his/her team's coach is a terrible coach.

Did your wedding vows say: "....for richer or poorer, in sickness or in health but only if you don't often do something stupid that I disagree with."

[BTW I like your self confident ability to tell people when and where they should spend their money.]

Let's be realistic, ZM back ups are probably worse than him. I think JT is not benching ZM to save face. How is he going to explain a bench full of incompetent highly talented QBs with multiple years in the program?

Maynard is absolutely terrible. I just can't imagine that all 4 of his highly recruited backups can be worse.

(Remember: Only Buffalo, Temple and Middle Tennessee saw any potential in Maynard, before Keenan Allen brought him here.)

Three of Maynard's backups are Elite 11, and the only non-Elite 11 backup, Kyle Boehm, was sought after by a team will likely be ranked No. 2 or 3 in the nation later today.

If they all are in fact worse than Maynard, then that's 4 recruiting classes wasted on sh*tty QBs.

That should be a fireable offense.

Hinder is the correct answer.

Maynard - We know what he his. Decent QB with good running game and good protection. A chicken with his head cut off otherwise. No benefit to playing him the rest of the season. Allen stays or is gone regardless of what JT does with him.

Bridgford - He was very productive with MV because his team usually dominated. He was very average and even sub-par against good competition when he was pressured. What we've seen fom him so far hasn't been impressive.

Kline - His production was very mediocre his junior season when he got terrible protection. No need to burn his redshirt for a wasted season.

Boehm - Option QB. Never productive in HS. Has mechanical issues. Got passed up in the spring by a true frosh. No real desire to see him. Likely, Brock Mansion 2.0.

Hinder - Wouldn't be burning his redshirt. Only QB on roster that would be upset about him playing is Bridgford (i.e., he is ahead of Kline and Boehm in class). He's the 2nd most athletic QB after Maynard. Plus, his HS scouting report was that he threw very well on the run and was very good at improvising and making plays when the play broke down. He apparently improved significantly and impressed in fall camp.

Why NOT?

Moreover, one of those backups should be "coachable" to be no worse than ZM is right now. That is a very low bar.

Why is is that every team that Cal has faced this year (EVERY TEAM!!!) has a better QB than Cal's.

Seriously. We are not making a bowl this year. We are very unlikely to win another game this year. So what is the point of playing the guy who supposedly "gives us the best chance to win now" if we aren't going to win anyway?

This season is over. A good coach would get ready for next season. Leach has benched many of his seniors for freshmen, knowing that this year is a lost cause. Shouldn't Tedford do the same?

We need to see what the young guys can do. We need to start Hinder now. That way know what kind of a player he is going into Spring Ball. If he sucks, then it will be a competition between Bridgford and Kline. If he tears it up, then the competition will be between Hinder and Kline.

I think its safe to say we aren't going to make the Rose Bowl this year. So lets get ready for next year.
