I like Gould and Thompson. I also like Chandler as a football coach, but not as a recruiter.

It all depends on who the new HC is. I can see a guy like Peterson possibly keeping a Tedford assistant or maybe even two. But I think it is much more likely that the new coach will clean house entirely.

There is no "should"....if the new coach wants all of his own people, so be it...would I like Gould to be kept, sure...how could you not based on his body of work?

If I had to venture a guess it would be Thompson b/c he is the recruiting coordinator.

The new HC will have total control. Of those who have not found jobs, a new coach often keeps one for basic continuity. The holdover usually doesn't last, though.

I agree. The justification for parting with Tedford and not giving him another year to try to bring the team back (as he had done each time as quarterbacks prior to Maynard gained more experience) is the need for a complete change.

Cal should get the best, most proven coach that it can and let that coach hire his own assistants. Current assistants could be welcome to re-apply, with no guarantee of continued employment.

If we get a guy with a whole new offensive system - ie Dykes - then no offensive assistants can be kept. I'd like to see Gould kept, but you never know with a new guy coming in.

In the past, you've even pimped him as a possible replacement for Cal's HC for whatever reasons.

He's been let go. Maybe you should let it go as well.
