Jeff Tedford is a great man and someone anybody would want around thier son. His mentoring will be missed. During recruiting you could easily tell he cares about who comes in and wants to make them a better person, not just on the football field. We dealt with alot of recruiters and I have no idea why any parent wouldn't choose Cal, having Jeff Tedford as the coach just made it a much easier decsion. I'm proud to say that my kid played for Jeff Tedford, good luck on your future.

Great post. It makes me feel better. While I am hurt by the firing more than most folks here, we all have a place in our heart for Coach Tedford. The new coach has a perfect foundation to work from thanks to Tedford's efforts. It's a sad day for most of us, but the future is bright.

Very nice post, one I'm sure Tedford would be proud of. By all accounts a good man and role model. Through all of it he maintained a certain amount of integrity that seems honorable this day and age.

I recognize as much as anyone he needed to go, but these kind of stories are what you want in a head coach.

The next coach may very well have good on the field success, but whether or not he is seen as an overall improvement has more to do with the program than X's and O's.

Cal's next coach has some VERY big shoes to fill!
