What would you think if we went with all gold? We are the Golden Bears representing the Golden State after all. I've been thinking about this for a long time but do not recall any discussion on it.

Maybe something like this pic but with a yellower gold. And yellow trim instead of white. Not sure about the helmet. Don't want to look like ucla.

Might be kind of nice with the coaching change.

I like all gold (without silly stripes) as a special change-of-pace uniform, but not for every home game.

Gold out for an afternoon game when the Condoms visit.

I've always thought uniforms that had the same color for the tops and bottoms has a high school look to it no matter the rest of the design. This includes Cal's blue on blue combination.

ick, double ick. gold pants, dark tops for home games, get rid of that stupid swoosh/claw/stripey thing that *everybody* has on the jerseys. the classics will always endure. now get off my lawn

I agree, but unfortunately it has become the fashion in recent years. Football uniforms should have different colors for jerseys and pants, with the only exception being all-white. The other solid-color uniforms look like unitards.

Nope, fail. No thanks, I don't want to get confused with West Virginia.

Are you smoking crack? Blue helmets, blue/white jerseys, gold pants, no stripes. Show some class!

Wow. I thought it was a fair question and some guys here agree that gold is worth considering. And you use your 7th post to suggest I am a crack head and without class. Welcome to the forum, kgun98. You fit in perfectly.

Not a fan of monochrome on anyone...

(this look would not be improved with gold helmets)

...for me, Blue on Gold is the way to go, and there's no sense in deviating:

Worst idea ever, and there have been some pretty bad ideas on this board over the years.

Base colors: Navy blue and California Gold. Proper shade on gold is displayed on the official Cal athletics Web site. Look for where it says "California Golden Bears."

Blue helmets with no stripes. Gold script Cal, block C or bear claw with embedded script Cal is fine.

Blue home jerseys, gold numerals with thin silver trim. Gold stripe with silver trim at end of sleeve. No TV numbers on the sleeve.

White road jerseys, Navy blue numerals with thin gold trim. Blue stripe with thin gold trim at end of sleeve. No TV numbers on sleeve.

Gold pants.

Black shoes with blue sox.

Always wear blue jerseys in the Big Game no matter where it is played.

No gold helmets. No white helmets. No gold jerseys. No blue pants. No white pants.

That is all I have to say.

Bobby, a little sensitive are we? To me, an all gold uniform shows no class, as do all of those silly stripes that we've incorporated throughout the Tedford era. I don't personally know you so try to take a joke, OK? If you're offended, I apologize.

I believe in the tradition that used to be college football. This is what distinguished itself from the pro game. These multi sets of uniforms prove that the players are running the show. A strong coach can stipulate what the team wears and can sell his team, the university, and his coaching staff to a recruit. He does not need to sell them on how many different uniform combos they trot out week after week.

As an Old Blue, the basic, understated uniform of the 90's shows class as opposed to the glitz and dazzle of uniforms from teams like Oregon, Maryland, Miami, West Virginia, etc.

Maybe I'm just old school but I actually wear a baseball cap with the visor covering my face and pants that don't fall off my ass.

With respect to your idea BGBear--this is not a flattering (or good) look. Take it from a fashionista.

Oskirules,

I agree about the one color unis looking like high school.
I want to see home unis dark blue jersey yellow pants; away unis white jerseys and yellow pants. branding is much stronger when it is consistent.

Also the last few years we let the players decide. Supposedly helps the program. Looking at the results I don't think so.

We let it go too far, IMO. It's one thing if we have one "fun" alternate jersey that the players can decide to wear for the occasional game (like the gold-over-blue combo), but when they can mix-and-match everything you get some really stupid-looking stuff.

Not that barfy yellow or maze. And BTY it's YALE BLUE, the early founders were YALE grads, as Furd types were from Harvard, thus the colors have history. Real simple YALE Blue and real Gold in any combination. Its history Dude.

Since most of you Nobel Laureates around here can't even decide on the definition of "Gold" in the first place, the answer is a resounding "no".

Find out whether you like the gold that looks like "yellow" or the gold that looks like "gold" then start making outlandish uniform suggestions.
