Word to the wise to all other school's fans.....
Please don't try and say that Pete is going to be in your town/city being interviewed tomorrow after the game today. I know that's not possible as I'm having dinner with him and his family along with all his assistants and about 105 football players. It's the annual Bronco Football Awards dinner and along with me will be about 500 witnesses proving that Pete's still in Boise.

Maybe Monday then. But, we need to gauge his interest by Monday or Tuesday at the latest before NC State swoops in to grab Dykes.

So, he flies out late tonight, early tomorrow, has a few hours in Berkeley, and is back in plenty of time, flying private/charter of course-its so much easier than commercial after all(because I have done this a few times, I can act like I know what I am talking about).
This isn't about face to face discussion anyway-its about what's going on back channel.

This would only rule out an interview at the school on the night of the team dinner. Says nothing about: a phone interview; in-person interviews at other times over the weekend; interviews at an off-site (meeting in Reno for instance); interviews in Boise.

This doesn't really quell anything until there is a definitive statement from Coach Petersen or the Boise AD.

Even if Petersen were to take another job, I wouldn't expect an announcement until early next week, so I would expect him to attend the team dinner no matter what happens.

This is what I was thinking. Boise guy obviously hasn't considered teleconferencing or private jets either. Also, the fact that neither Reno or Boise is very far from Berkeley.

What other scenarios for an interview this weekend guys?

no one says he has to meet anyone in Berkeley about the position.

We flew to Chicago to interview Dykes, why wouldn't we fly right into Boise for a meeting with CPete? They are in denial.

Sorry NYCbears, but it was reported that Cal reps were traveling to Nevada to meet with Petersen. Trust me I am a huge Boise fan (son and daughter in law both go to Boise State), but would love to have Petersen. I am close friends with significant Boise booster and he has indicated that Petersen, although very loyal, understands the opportunity to advance his career, especially to the PAC 12 which even you know is the only move he has indicated he would make. He will interview with Cal, he simply may just may decide Boise is the best place for he and his family. Go Bears!

Team dinner on day of away game? Well, it's going to be a late dinner I would think. Game today with Nevada, in Reno at 12:30pm. Say game ends at 4pm. Shower and load up bus and travel to airport 5pm. Get on plane and it's 6pm. Fly to Boise, get off plane, 7:30pm. Travel to dinner, and it's 8pm.

And this would be a pretty conservative estimate.

I wonder why some big BSU backer would even post that, though he has almost 17,000 posts. Sounds a little desperate and clingy, doesn't it? Maybe CP is seriously considering a job switch this time.

This is what I'm hoping. I do believe that he'd give it very serious consideration. I'm just not sure he takes the job. 50/50 at this point, IMHO.

If Cal wants me, they contact my agent.. I let my agent handle the details. Then my agent and I discuss the pros/cons of the position. I can be a lot of places but Cal while negotiations are underway.

What the booster should be asking is not where CP is, but where his agent is and with whom his agent is meeting.

It's where the agent is that matters. When they meet face to face eventually, most details will be worked out. If he flies his family out to take a look it's a done deal.

and why wouldn't he check it out in detail? Five years ago it was Tedford rumored to be going to the NFL. and personally I wouldn't want to follow Chip Kelley if he leaves. Cal has a huge upside and is successful in everything else. Oregon is not.

Is this dinner catered by Boston Market?

Yeah, Petersen = Tedford.

The only differences would be:
Petersen's 72-9 Record
Petersen's 2-0 BCS record
Petersen's 2-0 record against Chip Kelly
Petersen's 2-0 record against Vtech
Petersen's beatdown of an SEC powerhouse on the road last year(Georgia)
Petersen's teams always playing hard and rarely if ever getting blown out.
Petersen's ability to do all of this with 2/3 star talent at a school located in Boise, Idaho.

They're pretty much the same coach aren't they?
