I hope Sandy got him to sign for cheap (e.g. less than Tedford), considering he was only making $700k at his former job. My biggest beef with Tedford was that he was paid so much while producing so little in over a decade.

I'm assuming over $2m for sure.

I'm guessing he at least doubles his salary and probably closer to $2mil considering some of the $ being thrown around this week.

If you want a good coach you have to pay to play. I don't know what he signed for but if he is successful he will be making Tedford type money or he will be poached just like every other good coach in college. Sometimes they leave anyway, for the NFL or there dream job(Alabama, Notre Dame etc..).

Go Bears!

I think that's just crazy for an unproven guy. But that's what college football has become, a huge industry.

probably got him on the cheap...$1.4 million with big incentives.

Dykes had a $750k salary.

So double it for Cal, with incentives.

If he performs, he'll get a better package in line with the market for that type of success.

Doeren and Hazell were both reported at $1.8-2 mill. I doubt Cal is less than that.

Illinois hired its football coach last year for 9M over 5 years. He had been the head coach at Toledo. It was reported as 1.6 for year one, and 1.8 for years 2-5.
Dykes will get at least that.

It's well over $2m.

Kent St coach got $2m and his old salary was $300k.

How many years?

I think his tenure here will be short and underwhelming.

I have no problem with Dykes getting paid $2 million (or even more), if there is a buyout clause that is far better for UC than Tedford's contract. No 5 year guarantees w/ auto extensions, please. Yes, Tedford's contract / no buyout was similar to a lot of TOP coaches at the time it was signed, but unproven coaches have lesser buyouts even if they are sought after.

More important is how much they throw at the assistants.
