It amazes me when people justify the actions of people like Lupoi or Mariucci with the refrain that they have to do what's best for themselves, meaning they go where the money is regardless of other considerations. For a different approach read the following about the Wisconsin coaching opening:

"Strike former Wisconsin offensive coordinator Paul Chryst off the list of candidates for the Badgers job.

"Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez says Chryst is "going to stay at Pitt." Alvarez says he helped Chryst get the job at Pitt last year, and doesn't think it would be appropriate to hire him away after such a short time.

"Chryst is from Madison and remains a popular figure at Wisconsin, and was considered the favorite to replace Bret Bielema.

"Chryst released a statement Tuesday night saying he was committed to Pitt, and Alvarez says it wouldn't be right for him to leave after just one year. The Panthers are 6-6 and will play Mississippi in the BBVA Compass Bowl."

Of course, it is possible Alvarez wants to be interim coach, and then hire Chryst a year from now. He did say it would be wrong to hire him after one year, but did not say it would be wrong to hire him after two years.

The posts apologizing for coaches' lack of ethics for the sake of winning says more about the posters than the realities of CFB coaching.

The good coaches don't cheat.

Damn those Midwesterners with all their high falutin' common decency and fairness.

Barry Alvarez is all class.

Though, I will say, the dirtier programs tend to win more. Funny how that works.

sometimes, not always.
UDuh did okay under Don James whose only concern was that his top players could get released on bail in time for the games, among other things.
Then, of course, there's always u$c and their tradition of pissing on the rule books.

No thanks.
