This does include two Hollywood Bears, plus, I'm pretty excited about it. Thoughts on the trailer?

Hmmm....I wonder who Benedict Cumberbatch is playing as bad guy in this. I'm thinking maybe the son of Khan?.....

Here is the extended Japanese version of the trailer and if you watch to the end, you'll see the famous scene where Kirk and Spock touch the glass as Spock dies which is in "the Wrath of Khan", only in current form....Does Spock die in this one as well....check it out..

The trailer is almost as confusing as the Cloud Atlas trailer (I had no idea about the Cloud Atlas book/story before I saw the trailer), but hey, its a STAR TREK movie with lots of stuff blowing up so I'm sure I'll see it anyway.

I have a feeling it won't be the 'young' spock that dies, but likely the 'old' crusty Nemoy one that does. (If anyone hasn't seen the 2009 Star Trek yet, then sorry for spoiler).

Seems likely. But don't see how they kill off Quinto's Spock two movies in.

I hated the first one. It defined cartoony and amateur in my eyes. If it involves Khan I'll give this a shot, but Im expecting Abrams to ruin it again.

Wow, a little bleak for Star Trek, but I love it. The rebirth of the franchise has been great.Thank you, Paramount, for making this happen. I really like that even non Trekies are getting into it. Makes me look like less of a nerd when extolling the virtues of Star Trek to non Trekie friends. I'll be there at midnight to see it...

I thought a solid JJA effort in #1. Hard to tell from the promo video but I do hope that JJA brings one of the next 2 movies back to the "cerebral" star trek that was willing to explore "big" issues without space battles. Can't do it all but often the best moments in the series were about that.

Oooooo, I see Alice Eve in the trailer. Nice addition!

If you don't know who Alice Eve is, this is all you need to know:

This is what she looks like in Star Trek:

From her hair and uniform in the trailer...

Some are speculating she's playing a new version of:

I completly agree. Gene Roddenberry would not be happy. Something tells me that Paramount took a look at their dead franchise and said, "how can we sell this to teenagers and non Trekies?". Hence, we get this. Better than nothing I suppose.

I am cautiously hoping that JJA extended. LOST was not all action and a pretty cerebral show for TV.

It's all about special effect these days when it comes to these kinds of movies...besides, I'm not sure Gene would mind. If you were old enough to watch the original Star Trek TV series, it was pretty much gratuitous sex and violence in every episode......

Also, all these new come back movies are following the Dark Knight mold of make it dark and gloomy and BAM, all of a sudden you have a serious action flick.

Very true, but it also touched on very sensitive social issues. I wasn't alive then, but like any decent Trekie I've seen all episodes, several times. Wasn't it the first show to have a black woman kissing a white man? Idk, cutting edge at the time.

I am not upset with how the show has changed. Frankly, it's very entertaining. The big issues though, they have not been touched upon. That's fine. I'm still hoping to see a new series launched that is successful. Someday perhaps...

I'm not sure what fighting style Kirk was using when he was battling someone, but I don't think I'd call it 'violence'

haha..c'mon, they are phasering people out of existence all the time and killing Klingons and other aliens in just about every episode...it doesn't compare to today's massive massacres but there were lads and lasses dying every episode...oh, except for maybe the tribbles, but they got beamed aboard a Klingon warbird and you know the Klingons killed all those little furry things......too bad we didn't see the carnage......:p

Shouldn't Alice be in the Babe Thread instead of ST thread?

Ahhh, whatever.
