And Marques T, who was hired by Skippy in February 2011 and then retained by Mora in December 2011. In December 2011 Mora also announced that he was retaining the DL coach but wound up leaving later. So that's at least 3 guys that at this time last year Mora was keeping on at UCLA. And he also hired guys with current ties to Pac 12/West Coast recruiting, not a bunch of guys who'd been in Louisiana for the past 3 years.

So we have the Mora/JT model or the Sonny model. Let's see if next year Sonny beats our rival and gets us in the conference championship and the Holiday Bowl (Mora) or we win another 6 games and beat teams we haven't beaten in awhile and have huge wins (JT--beating UW, Stanford and Michigan State would be akin to Sonny beating two of Oregon, SC or Stanford and Ohio State).

Sorry, comparing the JT and Mora first classes is laughable. JT's 2002 class had 0 NFL draftees and was filled with lightly recruited Plan B guys. Mora, OTOH, stacked up a bunch of highly recruited 4 star commits. Night and day. No comparison.

Wrong. Link below. Marques T. was the quarterbacks coach at the time Mora came on board and then he retained him. Brecketfield was the guy I was thinking of. So as of this time last year, Mora had retained three coaches.

But hey, let's see if Sonny brings in someone better than Gould who's put more RBs in the NFL than him and has brought in someone better than Bigelow. Oh wait, no such person exists.

If Sonny and Sandy are dumb enough to let Gould slip away, it will be to our detriment.

Get a grip, bro. Gould is a RB coach. They don't make or break a program.

Note; two running backs in the Monday Night NFL game last night: Justin Forsett for Houston and Shane Vereen for New England. Both recruited and coached by Gould. I would like to see him stay but that is from a fan's (admittedly remote) perspective. If we can't trust Dykes judgement at this stage we are clearly overstepping. Go Bears!

Funny how only YOU refer to a "Sonny model." He isn't close to being finished yet. How do you know what he is going to do? It would be more accurate to call it an Urban Meyer model or Nick Saban model. Those guys suck, right? JT's model was way better.

If you think the No-Names did much in recruiting over what Mora and Klemm did than there is no use talking to you. You refuse to get it. So keeping Ambrose, who you know nothing about and probably never even thought about before, will save the Bear program? Ok

Funny you mention Urban Meyer. No, he obviously doesn't suck (I thought Mora is the best comparison because he's at UCLA and didn't come immediately from the pac-12). Meyer retained Fickell, Drayton, Vrabel, and Johnson--four assistant coaches--who had just coached Ohio State's 1st losing season since 1999. According to all you guys, Urban Meyer is a fool for not cleaning house. I'll side with Urban Meyer over you guys. I'll switch the model name from JT to Urban Meyer. So we have the Urban Meyer Model v. the Sonny Model.

I'm not sure running backs "learn" to run. Do you think Gould taught Bigelow that spin move he showed against OSU? There may be some fine tuning, such as how to protect the ball to avoid fumbles, what keys to read in blocking assignments or seeking holes, running routes as a receiver and the like but the actual running part is largely innate.

Right this moment can you define the Dykes model with accuracy?

When it is COMPLETE please be sure to highlight the 3 or 4 or 5 coaches from JT's staff who YOU would have kept over Sonny's staff with an explanation why.

I would love to see your knowledge shown to all. So far would you have kept Coach M as offensive coordinator over Franklin? La Tech special teams coach is coming. Would you have kept Genyk?

Wasn't urban meyer out of football when the took the job? he had no assistants.

he was also taking over a successful program--just so happen the head coach was fired for conduct irrelevant to the actual game.

these are two completely different scenarios.

It was likely a combo of fit and adminstrative reasons. My guess is that as a 16 year vet, Gould is likely one of the highest paid RB coaches (and deservedly so), but the bang for the buck may not have made sense in this type of offense. Dykes must have a budget to work with on hiring assistants and reallocating some of the RB coach's salary to help land a top DC and having a lower quality RB coach may have made more sense for this program. Just my speculation.

Would have kept Gould and probably Ambrose b/c Kenwick T. was gone.

Would not have kept Genyk. Upgrade with new guy/Sonny.
Would not have kept Jim M. Upgrade with Franklin/Sonny

You would or would not have kept Ambrose today? Or as head coach would you have stated, "I'll probably keep you Ashley." You wanted the "Urban Meyer model." State which 4 coaches you would keep as of today.
Gould, Ambrose, and which other 2 now that you have fired Genyk and Coach M?
