Not going to change the fact that the logo still looks like a flushing toilet.

Advice to the UC: if you don't want people to think its a replacement for the original seal, don't release a video where said seal is literally stripped apart and redrawn (replaced) by this new logo. Because that's exactly why I looks like. Smh.

I'm also really glad it is gone. But you must not have looked very hard -- many designers have come to this terrible logo's defense.

Really? No, I guess I didn't look hard enough at all. The "lay" review was a universal thumbs down. Have rarely seen the community this united on anything.

Wow, Gavin Newsom was actually good for something here, while our other well-placed alum Moonbeam hasn't said much about this fiasco...

It was an attempt to replace or at least diminish the use of the seal, the design team backtracked and tried to spin their monstrosity by saying it wasn't. You can substitute the seal nearly anywhere that monstrosity would be used.

The most stupid argument they've used was to say that its use would mostly be confined to fundraising and geared for corporate clients, when in fact this is exactly where the seal would be appropriate, as a strong reflection of a long tradition of academic excellence. They've also tried to bullshit their way about the reception, saying that opinions were mixed and brushing off the incredible and unanimous uproar generated within the UC community.

You know what, I think it would look ok if they tweaked the C to look less comic sans and removed the gradient. I have no idea what the hell they were thinking with the gradient.

Probably thinking "UCB", as in U.C. Buffering.

There was an omission from that sentence. It originally said "...an array of accomplished Palo Alto design experts."
