doesn't this just give other schools a chance to throw this in recruits' faces? "So, is he going next year, or the year after?"

Not really. I'd love to have another shot at him.

Several points that I have read:
1. Kelly is looking for the right fit. Remember Harbuagh and Carroll meeting and rejecting other teams. Now they're exactly where they want to be.
2. Since there's going to be a smooth transition from Kelly to Helfrich, doesn't that not hurt recruiting?

As soon as Dykes gets things rolling, those BearRaid vs Ducks games are going to fun again, just like they use to be, 04, 06, 07, 08 etc.

Mano y mano. Spread v. spread. Who's gonna have the best D? That will be key...

P.S. Glad the Chipster is staying: good for the league.

I think he expected at least $4-5M/yr with control, and didn't get that in the NFL. I'm not surprised that it didn't work out at Philadelphia, they are a very cheap and dumb franchise. Perhaps the other franchises with openings aren't much brighter.
Head coaches in the NFL are still underpaid, especially since they're not subject to the salary cap. Coaches have a big impact on team success, it warrants investing at least 5% of the salary mass in a top staff (=$6M/yr), but short-sighted owners will choose to limit that expenditure. That's how you end up having Hue Jackson as a head coach.
