Is there anyone we would like to steal away from Oregon?

We are running out of scholarships but I think we can find a way to make room for a 4-star type from our own backyard.

People here in Tennessee are talking about stealing Thomas Tyner. That's not happening, to be sure.

For a change, it's nice to NOT see local talent going to the Quacks.

Quacks have several from San Diego but, based upon the glimpses into Sonny's Squad recruiting efforts, I think Cal will cover the entire state in the future and are probably making essential contacts now.

Bring on the Bear Raid. Recruiting is doing well.

With all our new OL recruits and Yenser, we should be able to run and give Kline enough time to pick them apart.

... or whomever is playing QB :p

I think we're past the days when one and only one QB got the practice reps and game time. Kline and the others have to prove themselves DAILY. Different guys may play based upon their skill sets and game situations. QBs will have more to do than stand around in practice and games. :cheer

I'll take Phil Knight. Just back up that Brinks truck.

From what I've read about Hunt lately, I think we might want to shift our efforts to keeping our guys from fleeing to Oregon instead of who we can get from them.

Succinctly put and explains 50% of Cal's recruiting issues.

I think the Cal program is more likely to lose a player to Oregon than Oregon lose a player to Cal.

Which is why Stanford and Vanderbilt are struggling to attract recruits?

Schools that win tend to do well in recruiting. Stop using academics as an excuse. I'd bet that very few players (non walk-ons) on Cal's roster are majoring in engineering, chemistry, physics, etc. Sociology is sociology, no matter what school you attend.

Private schools have huge resources and offers things a public school can not. Stanfurd has the world's largest athletic endowment. They coddle their students and make things easy. Go to Cal and YOU will fill out your own paper work, financial aid, class reg., etc. At Stanfurd they do that stuff for you. Not too long ago you could drop a class 24 hours before the final at Furd. At Cal that was never the case...drop was on a hard set deadline 7 weeks (if I recall) before the finals. Big difference.

At some schools, the "students" have to go to class. Don't pretend that you have never spoken with some of these kids.

That's not a fair comparison. Look at Franklin's business card:

I'm sure furd coaches and even your boy Lupoi have better ones.

That is dumb. Sociology at a school with smart kids (Cal) and a class curve means it is harder than at a school with dumb kids (UW). By the way, don't argue about academics when UW have guys like Pio Vatuvei enrolled and stay eligible to be on the team.

I once took a Sociology class where 3 softball players failed the class. Cal profs do not believe in coddling student athletes, just ask Aaron Rodgers.
