I'll be glad if he truly ends his football career. Jahvid is a really good kid who deserves a full and normal life without having to deal with the afteraffects of numerous concussions for the rest of his life. I think he will be successful in whatever his future endeavours will be.

Did he finish his education at Cal and did he obtain his degree?

If not, I hope he comes back and finishes.

If he did, best of luck in his new direction in life.

What a special player. His ability to change direction and accelerate out of that transition was amazing. Assuming he does retire, Detroit will definitely miss him. All the Best to JB--hoping he lands on his feet and goes on to great things.

Clearly he will be fine. Me made some decent money in football, but many of my attorney buddies are making as much without bashing their heads in. He is a smart guy, and I am sure he could come back to Cal, finish his degree, and move on. He should go to Law school and become an agent / advisor to other players. He is one who was a shooting star, and got hurt, ending a lucrative career.

He should be fine. I hope the Bear family picks him up somehow.

Wow this sucks he was a beast. I was hoping he would have a nice long career in the league. My favorite game was his 300 yarder against uduh. Good luck in your future endeavors jahvid. Go bears

I think this was a year ago, when he had another concussion. A few posters were making remarks about how we are not his coach, we are not doctors, blah blah blah, and that we should "just let the guy play".

Well, time certainly proved you right and that other handful of unnamed anonymous people wrong.

NFL Network is running a crawl indicating his career might be over. Pretty sad it was so short. I was at the Oregon State game and seated at the opposite end zone when I saw him leap to try to score. I couldn't believe how high he was off the ground after a Beaver pushed him after he had already jumped. That was his last Cal rushing attempt. I hope he will not have ongoing concussion symptoms and can lead a normal life.

Too bad he got burned out at Cal.... Great RB. God Speed, JB.

The 300 yarder putting the final nail in UW's 0 and 12 coffin was sweet, but my favorite occurred a couple of weeks earlier in the 2008 Big Game. He practically broke the ankles of one of Stanford's safeties on one play, and generally made the entire defense look like it was playing in sand.

Seriously, that guy was like a video game in real life.

I agree......one of the best RBs in Cal history:

A lifetime of highlights in one year!

He had the talent to become a legend, not just a Cal legend but an NFL legend. He was never the same after the hit. I was scared for the guy's life when he was thrust up into the air. There was a feeling in my heart that he would end his career in some tragic form. He will always have that 2008 season. I hope he can become a coach.

One of my favorite Bears ever. I still wear the #4 jersey and will continue to do so until it falls apart. Then, I can bust into my backup brand new #4 jersey. I have a few variations of three different Cal jerseys - #4, #56 and #34.. Best was amazing, and I hope he lands a good gig because he deserves it. Cal for life. :gobears:

I like at 0:58 where he starts the run with a right-angle turn straight out of a video game
