KAB, shout out. Am on the Big Island and need to upgrade my Korean food experiences from nil to novice. Where should I go and what should I start with?

@GB54 I don't know much about Big Island yo! All I have heard is that you should try Merriman's in Kameula (there may be one closer to Kona). Sorry man. Any visit to Oahu? I'll buy you a Kona Longboard if you skip on over.

Oh man I wish I knew them. I never paid attention. But she visited us in late January and made us her specialty, bin dae dduk (Korean bean pancake). To die for, my friend! This is what she made on our stove:

Firerock is much better than longboard

There used to be a hole in the wall Korean place near the Gold's Gym in Kona

Merriman's is legit. The one in Kapalua (Maui) is ridiculous, even better with crazy view.

I'm visiting Waimea so I know Merriman's. Wanted to get down with some Korean food. The locals are touting various Korean Chicken places so I'll give them a try. Waimea even has their own brewhaus now so beer is good. I feel like an Eskimo -they have a hundred words for snow; in Waimea it's for rain . Fortunately you can drive to sun

Seoul Gomtang on Telegraph is one of the best gomtang/seolleongtang places that I've been to in the Bay Area. Their kkakduki (radish kimchee) is awesome too!

Go visit Mauna Kea for some snow haha. Last year Florida was the only State that didn't have snow. Ya I don't know any Korean places on the Big Island. I am sure it's mostly a smattering of lunch plate places. They are all probably equally good/so-so.

I was looking on Yelp and there's a place on Telegraph in Oakland called Koryo JaJang. Anyone been? 4 stars and good reviews.

IMO, Koryo is overrated...but it's fast and cheap.
