Anybody know the QB uniform numbers for those of us heading for practice?
I expect to see them lined up across the field for the Mumme throwing drills (forgot the name of it). It would be helpful to identify who is doing what.

One thing that just jumps out at me as I go down that roster is there are a lot of private school players on that roster. Of course De La Salle is legendary and back in the day when I lived there Salesian and later O'Dowd were good.

I am curious, generally speaking, how do the private hs schools measure up to public hs school programs there ? Here, there is usually, but not always, a huge drop off between public and private school ball. For instance, when Mansion was so highly touted, I questioned it thinking how would you know how good he is ? I think Dallas ESD has improved since then, but there are literally 50, maybe 80 public schools in the DFW area which would destroy them. On the other hand, I know for instance, Chicago has a strong Catholic league so what is the story out there ? Thanks in advance.

Yeah. It is interesting in Texas. The private schools don't have the type of presence they do in the North or in California. Perhaps that is due to the lower percentage of Catholics here in general. I don't know. But the publics schools here are very strong both academically and athletically.

I was looking at the question from the perspective of actually finding the right guy. I'm interested in what they do at practice. In my mind, having qb's throwing the ball without any rush or any decision making regarding finding the open receiver is almost a waste of time. It seems to me more effort should go into training the qb to scan the desired areas of the field for a given play and picking out the open guy - and then hitting him - all with a simulated rush forcing him to move around and develop his pocket presence.

It seems like accuracy would be a variable that would most lend itself to measurement - some fixed and moving targets guys would have to hit while stationary and rolling out.

Hopefully Sonny's understanding of the passing game and what makes it tick will help improve the play of our quarterbacks.

Cal reportedly offered a 2014 kid from Ohio at the QB position. Why would we use a scholarship on qb when web have seven including 4 soph or younger. Is Dykes expecting transfers as he suggested? Ie plans/expectations to name a freshman? Or just normal recruitmenting?

In Franklin's interview, it sounds like once they've made the determination that a QB is not right for this system, "they will be gone". The question is: by coaching decision or the QB's? I have a sense that they will be honest with the players and allow them to make their own decisions. They have already done their film study and have a good feel for how each guy plays ... strengths and weaknesses ... how they fit in the system and this is why they are now looking for guys who have strong arms, are accurate, and can run, when necessary. Most of the guys on our present depth chart were recruited to be pocket passers in a Pro set and are probably not ideally suited for the Bear Raid offense. Let the attrition begin.

Looks like "normal recruiting" to me.
