Again, I am a Niner fan, but that does not leave me blind to their history or obvious patterns.

Since when? IIRC, last year you were highly indifferent towards them at best.

True, it is a recent return. Primarily when Kaep became the quarterback (also no more Smith), but that was reinforced when I started dating someone who is a Niner fan and went to Niner game viewing parties or to sports bars in the City with her.

I was also Niner fan (Montana fan) back in the 80s (I was a Ram fan until they moved to Anaheim).

My Cal fandom trumps any pro-sports fandom.

The probability of a NFL team not taking any players from a school like Cal which has had a relatively high draft rate over the last 10 yrs must be somewhere below 10%.

And yet, over that time period, nine NFL teams have chosen not to select any Cal players.

Guys, it's worse than we thought. It's not just that the Niners have a huge bias against the Bears...a full third of the league does!!! I mean, when the Cowboys, Giants, Dolphins, Jets, Niners, Cheifs, Chargers, Bucs and Texans decide not to draft Cal players for a decade it's a bad sign. We need to infiltrate the secret meeting that these teams are having next year where they choose to handicap their ability to win by selecting certain schools to hate and convince them of our virtue! They must know that choosing not to take talented players because of their alma mater is unacceptable.

Start getting the word out, everyone! One third of the NFL must go down!!!

You'd think a local team would have the money to spend to give a scout some money for a BART ticket (and top dog) to see our multi talented players in the Tedford era.

An NFL team would take a player from Al Qaeda U. if they thought they could deal with the PR ramifications. Sure, questions about a school's offensive and defensive style come into play (and how someone fits) but a bias against a "school," in a broad sense, beyond even a specific coach...silly.

I'm not sure about the other teams you've named, but the Chiefs did draft Scott Fujita.

I didn't choose the ten year time period, you did. That happened 11 years ago. And if you want to point out that 10 years v. 11 years seems arbitrary, I'll remind you that the Niners drafted Andre Carter 12 years ago.

But go ahead, because people keep making my point. You can come up will all kinds of absurd metrics that point to there being a bias, but in order to do so, you reduce sample size to something meaningless.

Let me ask you a question: in the last 10 years, 40 Cal players had been drafted in the NFL. I can think of a team that rostered exactly one of those players, and, on at least three separate occasions interviewed a player from Cal either as a possible draft pick or free agent signing. Would you assume this team has a bias against Cal?

To bring the thread back to the original thread, 49ers are reported to still be a favorite to land Nnamdi despite Nnamdi getting lunch with Rob Ryan

My guess (without any real reasoning to back this up) is that the Niners offered him a pretty modest contract, and that Nnamdi, who probably wants to play for a contender, is weighing the pros/cons of taking peanuts from the Niners or finding a lesser contender who offers more.

Your reasoning is right on-after the last 2 seasons, a contending team isn't going to offer a lot of money, and only a really dumb team is going to offer big dough...
