Interesting that the starting La Tech QB started as a receiver. I love the open competition and flexible use of players. Also making everyone do up-downs because of some missed classes.

Dykes commented on punishment because guys miss tutoring sessions and S&C times.
He emphasized the word Punishment ... no fooling around or exceptions made.

The whole team being punished for a fews mistakes can suck, but serves as a great reminder that you are only as strong as the weakest link, and incentivizes the team to police their own.

Bingo! Glad to hear the coach making the team accountable. Sucks if you are going to class. Guarantee those guys will keep the others from slacking off in the classroom!

When I was playing, we had a "one fail, all fail" rule. I've kept that as a coach. It's amazing how quickly players will police themselves leaving more time for coaches to coach.

I like Boehm. Guy was a real recruiting leader for his class. Hope he works out as an inside receiver

While coaching baseball I've used this one: if any infielder lets a ground ball go under his glove in practice the entire infield team drags their glove on the ground while taking a lap around the infield. They hate it and the peer pressure after making the entire infield team do this gets kids to keep their gloves down (something that is not easy to do) on subsequent ground balls.

Nice. I thought of this too when I read this. I like that no matter how special you may be as an athlete, you will NOT be given preferential or special treatment. I like this change a lot.
