Who else (besides me) got rejected by UCSD?

I didn't apply to UCLA. To close to my home (13 miles).

I got rejected by UCSD that was in 2002

My younger son got accepted. Also got accepted into UCLA, Northwestern and USC.

Still has a couple of schools outstanding. I think he is going to the evil empire (USC) because it's better for his major and he got a great scholarship.

My older son graduates from Cal in May.

Congratulations to you and those whose children got accepted. My son just found out he was rejected and he's feeling crushed. He's a great kid and great student. I feel so bad for him right now!

Sorry to hear that. It's a tough and kind of crazy process. My son had no idea where he would get accepted, so he applied to 9 schools. As it turns out he has gotten accepted to 5 out of 8 with 1 to go. 1 wait list.

I hope your son has a great experience wherever he goes.

Oh, I should also add, my older son did not get accepted to Cal originally and was also heart broken. He worked hard and was eventually able to transfer to Cal and spend 2 full years. He will be oldblue13 if no one beats him to it!

Yeah, we're feeling pretty blue around here, too...and not in a good way. Great kid, great grades and test scores (#2 in his class at an outstanding college prep high school), and still gets rejected. Lots of Cal legacy in our family but I'm really starting to sour on supporting Cal beyond the Athletic Department. Looks like my financial support is moving, perhaps permanently, to another school. Well, the good news is he's got some tremendous options and he's going to go to a place where he's wanted.

Thanks. That's exactly what I suggested for him to do, go to a good community college and work real hard and do real well, and he'll eventually get in to study and become a "newblue". He'll probably enjoy the first 2 years better too, with smaller class size and less competition!

The nephew, unfortunately, got the rejection email yesterday. 4.0+, high SATs. He's going to take his talents to UW, unless the 'furd comes through later today. It seems like it is more emotional than it was back in 1988.

Cal, Furd, and...UW? Seems like an odd trio of schools to be choosing from.
