from the teaser vid...doesn't look like this is gonna happen

Simple is better and an old school flavor would be nice.

The image is blurred out a bit but the ones in the Jason Kidd teaser look like garbage. We'll see though.

From 1987 to 1989, the "Cal" decal was worn only on the right side of the helmet, with the left side left "blank".

It puzzles me why people think there is still an opportunity for anybody's input on the styles/colors of the uniform. The uniforms are DONE. They're being unveiled in less than two weeks and are probably the result of months of design work. There's no going back to the drawing board.

even if they weren't done, opinions of posters on BI would not matter. it's just people talking...feeling the need to voice out their expectations in anticipation of disappointment

What an awesome picture. Nothing we have worn in the past 10+ years comes anywhere close to looking this good.

My expectations for the new uniforms couldn't be lower...I expect something that will make me cringe. Cal will screw it up.

No, one side of the helmet was decal-less through the 1990 season. Russell White (see pic) didn't play for Cal in 1989. The decal went on both sides in 1991. If you check Citrus Bowl video, you can see it magically appearing.

They looked like second rate uniforms way back then.

It is amazing to me that people of my generation do not see how tacky and dated highlighter yellow pants look. There is nothing classic about that uniform. On top of that, the white trim on the numbers muddled everything and made the numbers hard to read. The good thing about those uniforms is the blue, and the script Cal. I always thought the one sided helmet was stupid.

Personally, I like the 2004 vintage best out of what we've had. My preference would be blue pants on the road. I could go either way on pants color at home, depending on design. But I'd really prefer if we went to a muted, metallic gold over the bright yellow.

I would take this design, but darken the yellow/gold shade and remove the white trim (and yeah, have the Cal logo on both sides of the helmet). The design of it is classic, even if some of the specifics are dated.

However, I do like the the lighter shade of yellow (such as Michigan). Also, if I remember correctly, the gold/yellow employed by Cal during early 90's was actually a dark shade. For some reason, the pictures show almost a yellow color.

You are correct--that photo is from 1991. Given that I was at that game, I should have remembered that we were at L.A. in 1991 (on the road in odd years).

Now I am intrigued...the link below clearly shows that we had decals on both sides of the helmet in the 1991 season's Citrus Bowl...anyone remember why the switch occurred, and why it happened mid-season?

I flew out to that Citrus Bowl game, took my mom, who lived in FL at the time. Back then, I was dating a Virginia grad, who warned me that Clemson fans were animals who would just as soon stab you as look at you.

I ended up grilling a buttload of wings in the rain before the game and sharing them with whoever came by. The Clemson fans were all really friendly.
