There are many college football programs out there, and one of the top college football writers chooses to pay us a visit.

any there's nothing wrong with a good boondoggle a few times a year.
All the ESPN/ABC staff/reporters love doing games in NorCal.... probably more so now that they aren't in a dungeon of a stadium.
Any national writer should get the red carpet treatment from Cal, and it appears Dykes knows this well. (or is it blue carpet?) Be hospitable and people will like the program and they will find ways to write good things about it.

1 Dykes gets how to treat the media in order to get your program name out
2. Notice the comment on the DJ picture- Sonny is making a big effort to reach out to former players - smart from several different aspects.

He's doing a tour of Stanford and Cal....would think Stanford had more to do with than us, but who knows. Maybe he wanted a paid SF vacation...

Before we had a coach, some people thought Mike MacIntyre was a better coach because he turned around a worse team and had a better season last yearbut national sports writers like Mandel and Feldman are fascinated by the Dykes/Franklin offense, so that attention is going to help with visibility. Also, Franklin's side business is building relationships with HS coaches, and high school players playing in the System will already have "bought in" to the offense when it comes time to choose which school to go to. While I think Petersen was the first choice, Dykes was the next best thing for Cal.
Actually that picture already existed last year:

im excited about #2. its important to show, especially recruits that there is a legacy of good football players to come through cal and have players feel like they are welcome back builds tradition and gives a certain sense of pride. u$c has done a good job of that.
