Thanks for that link. It shows that there was a valid intention, regardless of how it came out. I assume the entire graphic image study and resulting "clarification selections" came from Nike, quite probably done for free since they get to manufacture everything. Saved themselves the cost of engaging graphic designers not in the clothing business. IMHO Cal's graphic heritage holds more potential than what they came up with. A focus could have looked harder at scale of numerals and fonts. As others have pointed out, our history has held some good ones. If consolidation was the point, do we really need another bear logo? We have a life sized logo cavorting at the games. The consolidation studies probably consumed no more than two weeks max, including presentation prep time and delivery.
