One review on Yelp. Looks promising.

I'm planning to drop by next week. It's opening this weekend.

I didn't think they were open yet, so your post prompted me to go over and look--their sign says they will open Tuesday the 16th at 5:30 PM.

Met the owners about a month ago at Cafe Clem. They used to live in Rome, so they are trying to recreate pizza as done in Rome (thin, baked in 1000 degree ovens).

I don't think they will be open yet, they have a sign up that says they will open on Tuesday the 16th at 5:30 PM.

Ah crap. Thanks. I missed your comment above. Well, I'll try something else instead.

Had a chance to visit Build Pizzeria for their friends and family preview on Sunday evening:

  • The restaurant layout is modern and attractive and the pizza and drinks were great.

  • High quality ingredients of your exact choosing quickly and efficiently prepared and fired up while you wait.

  • The staff were very helpful and enthusiastic and we had a great time.

  • Be sure and check out the bar area with Big Screens and classy atmosphere and drinks.

  • The owners are great people, very talented and everything I have seen them do in the past has been first rate.

I highly recommend checking it out and believe the grand opening is at 5:30 PM tonight.

The pizza shop next door just installed a 1200 degree oven. We have a temperature race.

This is EXACTLY like 800 Degrees in Westwood. That place has a line every hour of the week

I said this in the last thread. 800 degrees for the damn win.

But I will gladly see my Berkeley choice (Blondie's.. yes, heavily influenced by drunken stumbles down from Bowles/fraternity row) supplanted if this is close.

Just came home after a late night dinner there, not long after they opened. Was headed home along Shattuck, avoiding the concert crowd near the Greek Theatre, when the wife and I noticed the place. There are few options for late night dining in Berkeley, and they were open around 10 pm so we decided to give it a try. Pizza was great, and the owner seems nice. I'll go back!

We were probably there at the same time. Pretty good experience, love the space, but I was a little disappointed with my pizza (the tomato sauce specifically) and am hoping it will be better next time if I order something different (I'll probably order one of the house recipe pizzas instead of the build your own).

Don't order the gluten-free crust, my daughter did and it was terrible/needs to be reworked--I think they used rice-flour which stayed gooey (like mochi) inside--seemed uncooked, but if they cooked it longer it wouldn't get crisper and the top would burn.

That's a fair assessment. The person I was with felt the same way about the sauce. Admittedly, I like my sauce light so this was right up my alley. But I felt the toppings blended well together. It was also all very fast. Less then 10 minutes between the build and when they brought it out to our table. Also tried the garlic fries which came with a very tasty aioli sauce, great stuff. Can't speak to the gluten-free crust.
