Tangent here: I idolize Rodgers, but I must admit that he came down a couple of notches after his post-game press conference after the playoff loss to SF. Obviously the worst situation in which to be interrogated by reporters, but the combo of condescension and extreme irritability was...

Still idolize the guy, though.

What a funny thing to say for a guy whose avatar is a guy whose punch lines were "I pity the foo!" and "Rrrrrrr!"

The guy has a chip on his shoulder and can be sensitive. Those very qualities are probably what help make him the player that he is, though. Having said that, I cannot recall what he said following the loss. But going back to OP, I find it funny that Stanford players assumed Rodgers had a poor SAT probably due to the fact that he transferred from a JC. From what I recall, Rodgers got over 1300, which I bet would be up there among all collegiate athletes including those at Stanford.

I saw somewhere that mid 2000's Stanford had a ~1100 SAT average on the football team. Cal was around 967, which was still top 10 of public schools (private schools didn't have to report to the survey... so stanford's score was conjecture). I suspect Stanford's has dropped a bit since they rededicated to football. No idea on whether Cal football's would have dropped in the late JT era.

Also, AR could have heard Stanford DBs talking to anyone on the field, doesn't have to be him.

But yeah, the SAT trash talking could be pretty redculous - hey dude, what'd you get on the SAT - i bet you can't touch my 1100 suckers.

And Will Hung singing was the weirdest thing anyone has seen at Cal since the naked man.

I first talked to him just before the draft.

Projected to go first, he said he was "one of the quarterbacks" on the (Cal) Team when a girl asked if he played football.

Dude is pretty solidly in my awesome column.

Another story about those days; DJax as a freshman (already knowing he was a stud) walking down the line of people on fan day signing autographs and taking pictures instead of sitting at a table waiting... making sure he saw everyone.

Two studs, two unusually classy moves.

I really need to take back what I said about Aaron supposedly having an uncharacteristic, momentary lack of poise when dealing with the press. I have located the video of his press conference after the playoff loss to the Niners. Contrary to my observations at the time, colored to some extent by my frustration with the loss, he was NOT condescending and was more deflated than irritable. Apologies to Aaron, who continues to be my favorite player in the NFL, by a mile, and represents Cal at the next level like no one else.
